0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Another non-fan of Powell heard from. By clarence ellis I was disappointed that Bass did not cover much of his own experience. Those who revere J.W. Powell will be offended. The fact is that Powell's book mixed his two trips as if they were one, and added some fiction. My old friend (now deceased), Dock Marston, had original or copies of everyone's diaries. Pity he never got around to writing his book. For most of us it is enough to know that everyone tended to make themselves the hero at the expense of someone else. Powell should be acclaimed as the driving force. All participants should be acclaimed for their courage and fortitude.
