Review A newbie to the book-publishing world scores big in this introduction to arm knitting. There's no question, to dedicated aficionados, that knitting takes a long time to complete. So Bassetti began her instructions with a 10-minute YouTube video to demonstrate the how-to's of her craft--and voilá, the result. Her visual acuity is right on the mark. She illustrates each of the six steps, starting by making a slip knot to weaving in the ends, using clear, close-up color photographs. The seven different stitches (along with knit and purl, she highlights seed, linen, rib, cable, and garter stitches) follow the same format. And though the 30 projects don't incorporate her photographic processes, there's plenty of information, before and after the direction, to ensure knitters will get the results they deserve. Now to the piéces de résistance (and beating the Christmas-gift countdown clock): 10 minutes for a headband or arm muff; 15 to finish a cowl; 20 minutes for a baby blanket--and no more than one hour to create your very own cable blanket or straight scarf with fringe. By Susan D Arm knitting is becoming super popular.It's a fantastic craft for beginnersand cheap as well.All you need is a ball of yarn and youcan be on your way to making something.Arm knitting is fantastic for children & adults.Once learned you will be surprised howquickly you can make somethingwith some beautiful chunky yarn.Amanda was a frustrated knitter,like me she found it so time consumingshe would often give up.Then she found arm knitting and withina short period of time she was makingcheaper and less time consuming projects.Amanda has brought her experience togetherto create a fantastic book that teachesyou to arm knit and then uses theseskills to make some amazing projects.The thing I love about the book is Amandashows you how to do everything with yourhands and arms.This even includes sewing in your ends.No other tools are needed except a pair of scissors.This means it's a lot cheaper to start.No needles, no hooks required.The book is broken down into sections.These sections are split into the approximatelength of time it will take you to makethe project.10 Minutes15 Minutes20 Minutes30 Minutes45 Minutes60 MinutesI love the idea of splitting the book intothe length of time it will take you.If you've not got long you can makeone of the quick projectsand if you want more of a fixthen choose a longer project.I don't know about you but I'd only reallyseen cowls made with arm knitting.Amanda changes this preconceptionand makes everything from a headband to boot cuffs,mug cosy to a footstool cover.I am amazed by the techniques she has used.There is even a cabled blanket!Using the different stitches and yarnsAmanda has really created an amazingarray of projects for you to make.I have already put the yarn on my Christmas listso I can make the basic blanket.It's amazing that you can arm knit a blanketin 60 minutes.The instructions are clear and easy to understand.with the use of photo's it makes it easier tounderstand the directions.I can't wait to get started on my first arm knitting project.This book would make a brilliant presentfor someone.Why not include a selection of yarn for themand on the day they could have theirfirst project finished.I received this book to review.However all opinions expressed are my own.No monies were exchanged.
