Excerpt from Angelic Wisdom Concerning the Divine Love and the Divine WisdomThe present Translation is based upon the recommendations of The Revision Committee of the Swedenborg Society; and it is believed that in technical respects those recommendations have been fully carried out. In addition to this, fidelity to the matter and manner of Swedenborg has governed the translation. More remains to be done in the same direction even with this small work. There are phrases which are still to be solved into English idioms by the painstaking translator of the future. But at present it has not seemed advisable to put idiomatic English in the place, and Swedenborg's forms of speech in the second. There is temptation to do so. But whenever the process has been attempted, the immediate result has shown that some pregnant meaning has escaped in the altered phrase.Swedenborg is ever clear and definite, and employs unusual forms of speech only for unusual purposes. To convert these forms into current English would void their intrinsic meaning. A great part of the present work is of this unusual significance; being an expression of hitherto unknown spiritual things in the imperfect vehicle of natural language; and therefore, to correspond to the occasion, the phraseology is unusual. About the Author Emanuel Swedenborg (born Emanuel Swedberg; 29 January 1688 – 29 March 1772) was a Swedish scientist, philosopher, theologian, revelator, and, in the eyes of some, Christian mystic. He termed himself a "Servant of the Lord Jesus Christ" in True Christian Religion, one of the works he published himself. He is best known for his book on the afterlife, Heaven and Hell. Swedenborg had a prolific career as an inventor and scientist. In 1741, at the age of 53, he entered into a spiritual phase in which he eventually began to experience dreams and visions beginning on Easter weekend April 6, 1744. This culminated in a spiritual awakening, whereupon he claimed he was appointed by the Lord to write a heavenly doctrine to reform Christianity. He claimed that the Lord had opened his spiritual eyes, so that from then on he could freely visit heaven and hell, and talk with angels, demons and other spirits. He said that the Last Judgement had already occurred, in 1757, although only visible in the spiritual world, where he had witnessed it. That Judgement was followed by the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, which occurred, not by Christ in person, but by a revelation from Him through the inner, spiritual sense of the Word to Swedenborg. In fact, Swedenborg said, it is the presence of that spiritual sense that makes the Word Divine.

The Unexplainable Explained By Peter Jochinger In The Garden of Eden there lies the TREE OF KNOWLEDGE.If its roots could talk this book would be it's byproduct.To explain love, what is spiritual, and God I would have thought impossible untill I read this book. This is so good that I will have to read his other novels.There may be a "what the" feeling when you start reading this work.In reality what else could you expect considering the difficulty of the subject matter.Mr Swedenborg thank you for your gift of literal knowledge, presented in an unbiased and faultless manner.This work is truly DEVINE WISDOM written with LOVE and aided insight from our LORD.
