Originally I was really interested in the watercolor section of the book, as I am a beginner and I've been wanting to learn more about the medium - but this book wowed me from start to finish. If you like to put a personal touch on the things around you and like to do it with paint this book features a fun collection of ways to apply paint to a wide variety of surfaces with all sorts of tools and objects. All sorts of different paints are featured. Some of the projects are fine art based with a focal image and some use printing techniques to create patterns.

If you peruse Pinterest all the time and are an avid crafter, then this is a great refresher of great ways to apply gold leaf, learn about watercolor techniques, and work with paint! This is a really nice set, especially for someone who would like to try out coloring before investing in a bunch of supplies. It would also make a great gift at under $12.This book is different than all the other coloring books that I have. Firstly, it is bound at the top of the images, rather than the side (making it great for my left handed daughter). Also, the binding is more like a notepad with a glue binding. This allows it to open and lay completely flat (see my photos), and you can tear out a page even from the middle of the pad. The pages easily remove with no tearing or creasing. I do worry about what will happen to this binding after a lot of pages are removed--will it tear apart over time?*The paper quality is very smooth, and quite thick.*Each page is printed double-sided, but the image on the back is exactly the same as the front. Not sure why they did this?*Inside the back cover is a 1/8" piece of cardboard to add stability.*The 'pad' as they call it, measures 7.25" x 7.25" square, and is about 5/8" thick.*The full page designs have a nice border--about 1/8" thick--so you don't have to color off the edges of the paper.*Some of the designs are centered motifs like butterflies and mandalas.As far as the designs go, most of them are pretty detailed with very fine, crisp lines. This is fine quality vector artwork--no blurriness or pixelated lines. I would estimate that at least half of the designs are going to require fine-tip markers to fit in the areas (see my photos of the variety). Some of the designs are full page, some are centered filling about 60% of the page. Most of the images are going to take quite a few hours. There is a variety of mandalas, flowers, butterflies (lots!), and abstract designs.The only negative for me is that some of the designs have microscopic lines close together (see my photos). I couldn't begin to stay in the lines, and got frustrated. So I just decided to leave those areas white like a border.Overall, this is a great little set for the price!

I'm a dog lover, but my preference has always been big dogs. Flash was a dachshund. Nevertheless, Flash stole my heart from the beginning to end.I expected a good-read dog story, but what I got was so much more. The author, Kay Pfaltz, takes us on a journey of the soul, her soul and, by extension your own soul, for lack of a better word. The crux of the story is about Flash, who is diagnosed with a tumor on his spine, turning Kay's world upside down--the stress, fear and pain anyone knows at some point who lives long enough with an animal companion. From here, two stories begin. One is about Flash and the remedies Kay tries to alleviate his suffering. The other is about her belief that he can and will heal and how that shapes both of their lives. It's a journey to greater wisdom and love, and Kay shows this very palpably through her story and some patches of very beautiful, lyrical writing. Kay writes of the miracles that transpired during her time of crisis with Flash, speaking in lay terms and humbly laying bare her faults and insecurities. Flash's Song a beautiful, endearing, enriching story that feels as if written 100% from the heart, and I am so in love with Flash. A book to keep by the bedside if feeling down.

It is a loving and heartfelt tribute to author Kay Pfaltz's beloved Dachshund, Flash, a little dog with a huge heart of gold. Flash came into Kay's life while she was still grieving the loss of Lauren, her cherished Beagle and soul mate. All that Kay knew about young Flash's previous life was that he had been dumped from a car at the side of the road. From the moment Kay took Flash home they became a family (a family that would later include two Beagle-mix "sisters"). Kay's love for Flash radiated from every page of the book in the tender way she recounted their life together. When Flash was 13 years old, he was diagnosed with a tumor on his spine and given only 3 weeks, at most, to live. Kay had always been open to alternative means of healing the body and mind and now sought such treatments for Flash, hoping such methods would give them more quality time together. And it did! The ending of this book was especially beautiful. Kay's sensitive retelling of the last days of Flash's life, as he witnessed the first flowers of spring (which he "helped" her plant!)for the last time, and how Kay will always remember holding Flash's tiny body in her arms on his last Easter were truly emotional. After getting to know Flash through this book, I can't help but smile whenever I think of him. "Flash's Song" is a wonderful and inspiring book, reminding readers to keep their hearts open to the power that love and miracles have in healing. After reading "Flash's Song", check out "Lauren's Story - An American Dog in Paris" also by Kay Pfaltz. Another book for dog lovers who don't see their dog as "just a dog" but as a cherished family member. Both books have left an everlasting impact on my being.

It is also a departure from Kay's first book about her beloved beagle Lauren. This book stars Flash, a miniature dachshund, who is diagnosed, in his thirteenth year of life, with a tumor growing rapidly on his spine. One pic even had hidden objects in it like a childs pic. Also the perforations to remove the page, cut off some of the pic. I will enjoy coloring some of the pics, but will probably never color others.

People are always in a hurry because things become easier, and patience are shorter. Unnecessary things are becoming such a need to everyone and as a we innovate and develop, what is compromised is the nature, and we can see it through pollution and we can feel it through global warming. Now if you are just fed off and tired of this modern life, you can just live off the grid, and if you are interested, planning too or already there, this book is great help. This book doesn't just help you live sufficiently without those unnecessary things, it also explains what is living off the grid. It is very comprehensive and I believe this will help a lot in our environment if a lot people will do it.

By Susan Keefe Having ditched our television 9 years ago when we moved to France and having never regretted it, this type of book appeals to me.The author has written it in a very practical way, giving an overall view of what living off the grid really means then looking into various ways we could all do so, if we wished.What I really loved about this book is the fact that it does not assume that you are committed [or can, even if you want to] to going the whole hog, instead it gently suggests different levels of commitment to this way of life, appreciating that often there are others involved who might not share your passion.A great book for someone wanting to know where to begin.

Many people are suffering from OCPD, and it is negatively affecting their marriage, their relationships, their children and their lives. Obsessive Compulsive Personality disorder is a condition of negative perfectionism. It is a desire and a need for orderliness, control, strict guidelines, and clear procedures. OCPD generally is handed down through the family and is held to be a family value which provides stability and survival. However, the obsessiveness and compulsiveness that is characteristic of OCPD can cause great strain in relationships and reduce the quality of life for the sufferer. In this ebook, I seek to challenge the core negative personality traits and needs of the OCPD sufferer. I challenge them to turn off their autopilot and try to look at the world through a different lens. I realize that it is quite difficult for a person with OCPD to challenge their own thoughts and the thoughts of their family members in order to search for greater freedom. I wish for them to slowly release their need to control and perfect everything in their life, to take a step back and to breathe. The first thing that I want to mention is that my books and my techniques are in no way perfect. Some of my perfectionistic readers struggle to look past the format, layout, sentence structure and wording in order to get the meaning. Try to focus on the meaning behind what I am sharing with you instead. Freeing yourself up from your OCPD and negative perfectionism will open up a whole new world to you. I know, because I was raised in a family with pervasive OCPD and I married someone with OCPD. With all of these perfectionistic people in my life, I should have OCPD myself. I do have traits of OCPD and some perfectionistic tendencies. However, I was able to release many of these tendencies while I was in my early twenties in order to have a happier and more fulfilling life with those around me. I am glad that I was able to overcome some of these tendencies. I went on to be promoted repeatedly in my roles in healthcare for over 2 decades, as well as becoming a professional author of over 175 self-help, children and wellness ebooks and audiobooks. I would not have had this ability to earn money and touch so many lives if I would have held strongly and compulsively to my family’s perfectionistic beliefs and to my own perfectionistic tendencies. I would have had severe writer’s block. Nowadays, the ideas come so fast that there isn’t enough time in the day for me to write all of them down. I jot things down on napkins just to try to keep up with reader demand. The first step is the hardest, but I promise you that it is worth doing. In this ebook, Ms. Snow sets forth a different challenge per day over a seven day period to counter any long-ingrained thoughts or actions which undermine healthy relations of every type. Her central idea is that of MINDFULNESS, wherein an OCPD person sets their Intention at the start of each day to deliberately observe their own thoughts and actions, and to alter those thoughts and actions as increased awareness of the consequences of their actions would naturally dictate. She appropriately refers to this procedure as ‘turning off auto pilot’, setting the stage for a fully-conscious, choice-empowered life, wherein the OCPD person acquires the ability, through practice, to do, say, and act differently (more beneficially, to all parties involved) depending upon the needs of the moment. Ms. Snow makes it clear that adopting this 7-day challenge will require considerable effort, but the outcome will be more than worth it. She is a great encourager to try the initially uncomfortable, but life-freeing exercises, because she shares her own personal familiarity and struggle with and overcoming of OCPD tendencies, herself.
