Excellent primer on gold mining investing By David Landy I have been following the gold industry for a few years and penetrating some of the terminology the miners use can be difficult. In addition, the industry is more complex than it might outwardly seem. How hard can it be to dig a hole in the ground, right? Wrong! This industry is incredibly complex and discovering and mining an ore body in a profitable way can be extremely difficult.In Gold Production, the author sheds light on all aspects of gold mining for the non-expert.The chapters on Mining and Processing are my favorites. The author systematically explains all of the important processes and options miners have as they tackle various aspects of their business. In addition the author's heavy use of simple diagrams to visualize the concepts involved serve him and the reader well. As those concepts become clear the reader begins to get a feel for what the variables are that determine the profitability of a mining company. This will aid you greatly the next time you read a miner press release or investor presentation.
