0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Decent Read By David Anthony Gilmore In my opinion this is a good "starter" book for addressing the historical background of racism in Kansas City. However, some of the author's historical references raised more questions than answers. Specifically, his stories on Leon Jordan and Bernard Powell's murders and how they are connected to the racism in Kansas City.

And an exemplary rendition of what's needed n every community in the United States. I searched for this book when I first moved to Kansas City eight years ago. I'm delighted that it has finally been written. Within the historical framework Griffin so well defines, many more stores may now be told.

Read this, even if you don't live in Kansas City By August McCoy This well-researched history was certainly eye-opening, disturbing and went a long way toward explaining why we have the problems and simmering anger we do today. So many of our social policies that were intended to help were hijacked along the way. I highly recommend this.
