Not a how to, but a do you have the skills and aptitude and attitude to actually live off the grid.Calvin sets out 5 levels of living off the grid from just not being on the electrical grid to being totally unfindable, disappeared into the far yonder. For each of these levels Calvin lays out some of the issues that arise in attempting to live at those levels. He also lists some of the skills needed to live at these levels. Calvin suggests some personal tests to see if you are up to the demands of living off the grid.While this is a short, little book, it is a great book for someone considering moving into self sufficiency at various levels. Calvin suggests that many people just do not have the aptitude, attitude, or skills necessary to actually move off the grid, to go black, to become totally self sufficient. This book is for those considering moving off the grid and a discussion of the issues that that decision involves. As such it is a valuable book as a first step. Instead of delving deep into food gathering, or bee keeping, or weapons, or bug out bags or basic and advanced survival skills, Calvin's little book is asking, “Do you really want to make the plunge into “living off the grid.” And for many people that answer is “Yes.” And for many more people, that answer is “No.” Better to find out early in the game before you plunge into far beyond your abilities and level. This book will help you determine which camp you fall in.

By Amazon Customer The ideas of waking up every morning to birds singing, no more machinery humming, no electricity and water bills, no vehicles charging down the street, just breathing in the clean air and flourishing kitchen garden sounds wonderful. Though I am not considering to go off the grid as of now, I was keen about what it takes to attain self sustainable life style. I found the different ways to try pretending that I am off the grid were great to give me that experience without jumping into it right away. It was a good read.

Some basic knowledge along with tips and motivating aspects are essential before taking a decision, great help!

By catadupa There is so much negativity and misperception about Pit Bulls out there, that a book such as this (and the first Loyalty Unleashed) is a wonderful antidote to all that is perceived bad about these truly wonderful dogs. Sue Torres has done a great job of compiling Pit Bull owners' stories that warm the heart. Briefly, to know one is to love one; I discovered that myself and this book reinforces the fact that if you have heard only negative things about Pit Bulls and are scared of them, then make a point of getting to know them - you will not only be pleasantly surprised, you will also find yourself picking up both these books again and again, as the stories in them will make you smile and confirm your change of heart.

This book is just a spectacular look at pit bulls, a beautiful breed which is wildly misunderstood. Sue Torres takes you into the psyche of these beautiful animals and what makes them so special, and such amazing pets. Loyalty Unleashed II made me laugh, made me cry, and made me love my pit bull just a little bit more. This is an ABSOLUTE must get for all animal lovers and pit bull owners!

I love the follow ups on the dogs from the first book and all the photos. This book really illustrates how wonderful these dogs are, and how wrong the public perception and media portrayals are. If you don't own a Pit Bull yet, you will definitely want to go rescue one after reading this book!

It is a childishly easy method that results in some surprisingly sophisticated quilts. I needed a fool-proof method for making quick gifts and charity quilts. This fits the bill.

About the Author Wendy Sheppard, author of Recreating Antique Quilts, originally from Southeast Asia, began her career as a chemical engineer. In 2005, with encouragement from a friend and no prior sewing experience, she made her first quilt. Needless to say, that delve into quilting changed her career path. Wendy s original designs have been featured in numerous publications, including The Quilter, Quilt Trend, American Patchwork & Quilting, Fons and Porter s Love of Quilting and many others. She also designs patterns for Benartex, RJR Fabrics, Quilting Treasures, and Island Batiks. Great book for creating beautiful fun and fast projects By QuiltShopGal This is an excellent book for beginner quilters, as well as experienced quilters. The 10 projects have easy to follow instructions with great visuals and also have many helpful tips included. Certainly a perfect book for those wanting to use precuts or create beautiful stash burning projects quickly. And, given the price of a single standalone pattern, this book is an excellent value.

Each project begins with a beautiful color photo of the finished item By BarbaraLyn As in everything in our lives today, it is how we can do it faster and easier. This book tells you how to use precuts to make these projects. The book also tells you how to use your own stash.With 10 projects, which one will you start with? The projects range from a table runner, place mats, wall hanging, banner or a quilt.Each project begins with a beautiful color photo of the finished item. Then the author tells you the size of the finished block and the project finished size as well. The materials list is set off in a box and is followed by cutting instructions. Both of these lists are very clearly written.The actual block construction has graphics to help you along as you read the written ones. When you get to the finishing instructions, the author has either included a suggested quilting pattern with the actual template of the desprign, suggested pattern design names you can look up or even a URL to go to for the actual design. This is one point that makes this an extra special book as I am never sure what I want to do as a quilting design. Even if I don’t use the exact design, it gives me a place to start.Most of the items are done in colors I like. You can, of course, make any color/print changes you want to make it your own. If you’ve got a mess, here’s how not to stress By Jennifer If your home is starting to resemble a war zone or you’re tired of the endless “where did I put such and such…” this book was written with you in mind. It’s easy to get caught up in the stress of day to day living and become negligent on domestic management.With the understanding that hardly any of us anticipate cleaning a whole house from top to bottom, the author breaks it down for us into a one room per day schedule; and the 10th day is going to be your reward with a day of rest and relaxation in a new, tidier environment. So it’s a win-win situation.If you are an apartment/condo dweller not all of the listed rooms may apply to you, give or take (especially the garage part) but that just means you may have five or six rooms to work on as opposed to nine. Some of us may have a living room or a dining area but not both. I for one, have a “great room” which means to me, great in size (perhaps would need 2 days, ha ha.)So if you’re ready to live and breathe a little easier, this guide will help get you started.

This book takes you through every room in the house offering practical tips on how you can get rid of the clutter and systematically put the stuff that you need, in order. Whether it is your bathroom, living room, kitchen, bedroom or even the garage or home office that you want freed up and looking better, you will find the answer here. It touches from the littlest to the biggest items in your home and you will be surprised at how much space you can get in the house when you follow this advice. What I also like about it is that it gets straight to the point so that I can get on with the business of cleaning and doing what I really want to do. After reading this book I found so many great ideas and realized that to get the job done did not have to cost me much or even take up all my time.

As a recent college graduate, I feel like I am a bit more messier than my parents’ generation, and having a methodology and a way to clean up the home certainly helped a great deal. It explores how to organize with purpose, and how to clean up various different living spaces. Definitely an eye opener for me and I find the cleaning and organizing part of the week so much easier now. Thumbs up for this one.

By miriam richard This is a wonderful Bible study and excellent for females from teenagers on up, to develop a healthy perspective on how to live in contemporary society. Not only will one come closer to her Creator and have appreciation for the unique body God has given her, but also become more aware of how to enhance her individual features in a modest yet fashionable way. My friend was so touched she cried, as she realized that her body was not her own, but a vessel for the Holy Spirit. In our brokenness, we become more beautiful as we allow God's light to shines thru us; similar to the beauty seen when ancient vessels are repaired with gold and become more valuable. This is just one of many pause inducing points Deborah makes as she brings you into her world from Beauty Pageant winner to Etiquette Expert.

With the right words, new worlds can be created, new ideas can be incubated and grown, great heights and depths can be reached. Every brilliant idea had its first home in the written or spoken word, and if you are a writer or aspire to be one, you most likely understand this power better than anything. Ask yourself this simple question: why write at all? Once you’ve managed to answer this question for yourself you’ll have found something that will be incredibly valuable to your writing career, wherever it takes you: your purpose. Refreshingly different By PaulH This book took me a bit by surprise because the unusual approach kept my interest all the way through to the end, in one reading!As an aspiring author my mindset about many areas of authorship have been challenged and I right away recognize what actions, and thinking, I need to endorse to become successful.There is pure content here – no sugar coating or fluffing up of information, just the raw, and sometimes brutal, truth that the reader needs to face up to, but with suggestions on how to tackle situations that writers may find themselves in.“Creative Writing – From Think To Ink” is a gold mine of knowledge for beginners such as me. For my next reading I am arming myself with a pen and notepad to jot down some of those gems of information.A very worthy five stars from me.

It's a fast read, with clear, concise, solid advice that covers a myriad of things. With ideas on how to find your voice through creative exercises to how to use your own experiences to bring life to the pages, Creative Writing - From Think to Ink is a one stop guide to START WRITING. That's the most important parts. You can learn about craft anywhere, but it's not every book that helps you get the words on the page. This book is great for new writers who don't know where to start to seasoned authors who are trying to overcome writers block through inspiration and determination. While this book is more about WRITING than CRAFT, there are some tips on craft in the mix as well. Definitely worth a read for those serious about making writing their career.
