About the Author During Laurel's midlife years God relocated her and her family from Detroit, Michigan to the country in Tennessee where she and her husband decided to purchase a hobby farm to experience farm living. LIttle did she realize that God had much to say to her through her experiences with these animals. Laurel inves on 13 acres with her husband and 2 children, 8 horses, 2 goats, 7 chickens, 6 cats and 3 dogs. She is an adult nurse practitioner and enjoys competing in western dressage.

Smith This book is beautiful both in the gorgeous photography and in the clear illustrations the author paints with the power of words. The author's obvious love for animals is apparent as she rescues and adopts a barnful of needy creatures. Her sense of humor makes the reading enjoyable: who else would buy two orphan goats on her way to church ... in the family's van! As she learns to care for her litter of animals she sees God's hand in everything. Her spiritual notations are practical and insightful.An excellent gift for Christmas ... or anytime.
