5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Good for an over-view. By College Stealth I admit, my friends and I often sit around and discuss how we’ll make it through the Zombie Apocalypse. So, when given the chance to read this book; I figured I should brush up on my knowledge to make it through the world in desolate conditions. I’m someone who has a minor background in camping, having been a camp counselor and doing some Girl Scouts over the years.Pro’s:The book is professional. I mean that the layout, cover, the proof reading, and editing are very well done.There are some areas that give you really useful tips, such as the “Basics of Fishing” which stood out the most to me as helpful; perhaps it was an area I did not know much about in terms of experience.I’d gauge this book as having more use for absolute beginner/entry level person involved in nature.Con’s:Managing Disaster’s doesn’t include hurricanes or blizzards; which oddly enough are the two disaster scenario’s I’ve been a party too.The book is a good over-view, but doesn’t go too into depth in any one area. There’s a lot about what I should know about flowers/plants, but it doesn’t give me insight into where I can find out those things or learn them. Or canning, I feel like there is some good introductory information, but nothing that is through enough for me to actually go out and do it.I think that this is a good primer book, which one could use to see which areas he/she maybe deficient in, but it is not a standalone book. It is kind of like the book that you get to see what you know, but then guides you in areas of where you probably need another book to fill out the information gap. So, it’s let me know that I should know how to can, but it doesn’t tell me how thoroughly enough, so I should read another book on it. It also tells me I need to know types of plants, but I should go read another book on knowing the types of plants.
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. ~~ A basic introduction to being prepared for a disaster ~~ By Richard and Liz Prepping cannot be completed overnight. It takes time and practice. There are 8 chapters in this short, informational book. Prepping is a two way process: important to be mentally prepared for a disaster with a survival attitude plus you need to be physically fit and well.This interesting read provides the reader with basic info, no detailed specifics. For example, when talking about foraging in Chapter 2, the author warns the reader to be careful and knowledgeable regarding what they eat. You're going to need another book however to show pictures etc. and know what is edible or not. Did you know that grapefruit seed can help purify water? Separate chapters on hunting, fishing and canning. Chapter 8, the last one, has 17 good tips and pointers.Book provided in exchange for an honest review. Thanks, Liz

By Brandon and Leighanna In the uneasy world we share today, I think we all should consider reading orlearning a little more about a book like this- Survival: The Survival Guide For Preppers.Of course when the prepping reality tv shows began to appear, I did think the peoplewho got on there to share their prepping stories, were a bit looney. Look around you-what would you do if there was a natural disaster in your area? Or an even worse event!I found this book a breeze to follow, the writer does not drag on in each chapter. Eachand every chapter I learned ( or almost learned ) something that I did not know, that mayhelp me and my family- if put in the situation....I was able to read this in one sitting in a matter of minutes and I found it extremelyinteresting. Nothing about stock piling weapons-- it pretty much stuck to basic survivalfacts. It was a pleasure to read. I was sent a copy of this book as a gift. The opinionsabove are from my own experiences from reading this book.
