I just couldn't put it down ...Its one of the VERY FEW quilting books I have downloaded that translates to eReaders perfectly.... The advice is simple, easy to follow and makes perfect sense.... apart from the not buying fabric for the sake of it bit, only buying fabric for specific projects..... could NEVER follow that bit of wisdom.... I'm off tomorrow, for two days, and plan to start serious scrap busting based on "The Plan" ... adapted as suggested to my own preferences (easy to do) ... But that's just the start of it... the tips to follow for sewing up those busted scrap stashes into non FUGLY quilts is excellent... completely makes sense... before I never quite understood how some scrappy quilts look fantastic... and others... FUGLY....What Janella tells us is like Gramdn=mother publishing the sevret family xmas cake recipe for the whole world... giving away scrappy trade secrets so that ANYONE can get it "right" ...not that theres rights and wrongs of course.... . Moving forward, based on the advice in this book... mine are going to be FANSTASTIC ....

ScrapStashtic Quilts offers quilters a sensible, organized system for scrap quilting that is tailor-made for the person who, like me, is easily overwhelmed by a pile of accumulated fabric scraps. Instead of saving baskets full of disorganized scraps of all different sizes that you might be able to use in a quilt someday, you can use this system to deal immediately with every possible size of fabric scrap leftover from your quilt projects by cutting, organizing, and storing them neatly and compactly, and in a way that you can actually turn them into a quilt. I finished reading the book with the conviction that this is something I can and actually will do. The fact that there are no photographs of finished scrap quilts in the book appeals to my creative side. Without photos, I can’t be tempted to try to duplicate something the author has made. The graphics included in the book provide more than enough visual information for me to forge ahead and use my own unique collection of scraps to make my own one-of-a-kind quilt. I applaud the author for her environmental consciousness in having devised a system that uses every bit of fabric so that none of it ends up in a landfill.

So many ideas By Florida Kayaker This is a review for ScrapStashtic Quilts: Organizing Your Scrap Fabric Stash and ACTUALLY USING IT.The first portion of this book is about the authors history and experiences in the sewing world. By the time you get to quilting you are aware that she has a very extensive history in sewing. The time spent on her background makes me believe that she really does know what she is talking about.The next portion of this book discusses the authors pre-recipe for scrap quilts. She explains in detail how to store various pieces and the shapes to cut scrap fabric into. The author has a lot of guidelines on what fabric to use and what not to. There are no pictures in this section. In fact there are not pictures in the entire book. That is OK for the experienced quilter but I suspect it is difficult for the beginner.Next is the recipe section, the nuts and bolts of this book. There are many ideas to choose from and all are carefully explained.There is a section on how to avoid making ugly quilts. That one made me smile because I have made some of those ugly quilts.Overall this is a very informative book and I think most quilters will love it. I certainly got plenty of ideas from it. I am not sure how much a beginner would benefit from it but then they won't be beginners forever, hopefully.

Highly Informative By Mitchell Maxwell Not only in this book but over many blogs and new sites i read, there is one thing to remember --> Unless you are not aware of foraging or do not carry an expert, do not pluck any plant or mushroom. I was confident as i knew the expertise of this author. The ebook certained me of every plant that i will find. It kept me away from plants and areas that are regularly sprayed with pesticides or railroads. I pick them, wash well with water and mix with regular dishes. Good effect i can find in my health and mood.

What i found is Foraging is not limited to wild and rural areas. Many urban and suburbs neighborhoods to me have fruit and nuts waiting for me to be plucked. This book advocated me foraging and plant identification.

By Rosebud If you look in the book the statement is very clear what it's about, (rather than taking you through each project step- by- step, Cards That Wow with Sizzix is an idea book that will spark your creative fire, etc...etc) furthermore if you look at the book section it shows what you can except. It does give you a basic overview of written instructions...that being said, look inside (which they give) and decide for yourself if the book would be useful.

The ideas and presentation of those ideas is really well done. You also need to be aware that she uses a lot of different card stocks, patterns, and supplies. So, if you have them on hand it would be great. If not you'll have to read the book and then order them either online or from the store.

With a few of the Sizzix dies like the framelits step-ups, stand-ups, and flip-its this book shows you tons of card ideas for virtually every holiday and occasion. It's great when you can buy a few tools and then simply by changing the prints of the paper and shapes you can be creative throughout the year. This book would be a great party accessory to gather all your card making friends and craft all day inspired by the pretty photos and tips.

Covarrubio ...Did she mean for us to organize with the tides?One can usually tell how well written a book is by looking at how the summary is written, if the summary is also likely written by the author. Slogging through 41 pages (though likely rather small pages) of clunky, repetitive paragraphs is not my cup of tea. Furthermore, just slapping the word French on something doesn't make it French, and the poorly chosen graphic art clips picked for the cover art does not make me think my time would be well spent reading it. Therefore, I will have to decline reading this one, as I have currently several other well written books I should devote my time to finish reading. However, as I have not been able to make myself hit the button to purchase and read it, I could not give it the one star I suspect it may deserve and have reluctantly given it two. Maybe in the future, with an overhaul of the way the book is currently presented, I may be inclined to change my mind and upgrade it to a higher score, but today is not that day.

By NyiNya Written at the end of World War I, and by a Cornell profession of physiology...not a chef, not a housewife, not a nutritionist, this is not so much a book about what to eat when food is scarce and rationing dictates the menu as it is a look at how we grab the wrong end of the stick much of the time.The book opens with a stern warning: Vegetables, particularly leafy greens, olive oil, and whole grains are a dangerous combination. You don't want to overdo that stuff. Why, according to Professor Lusk, he has studied Italian families who live on the stuff...and who are doomed. No way they're going to survive on this kind of fodder. Some of the information is actually funny, and the author's stern warnings about food that our own experts rave about -- and recommendations of foods that we're now supposed to avoid -- will have you grinning and scratching your head.So, what's for dinner? "For splendid health, both of body and mind, a peasants' comparative immunity to indigestion, kidney and liver disease, as well as an absolute immunity to gout" try the following for your daily intake: Graham bread 1 pound; Potatoes 2 pounds; Apples 2 pounds; Milk 1 pint, This bread-potato-fruit diet provides the professor's essentials: milk, gluten and yeast. Add enough of these to your diet, he says, and you can skip other proteins, like meat. And the vitamins and minerals too, I guess. There are recipes for Graham bread, by the way, if you want to savor this particular treat.Makes you wonder what people are going to say about our nutritional geniuses one hundred years from now!Enjoy!

When I found out that Bill had purchased this book when he and I broke up, I was baffled. "Does he need a book to tell him how to behave around me and be the boyfriend I want???" But then, when I bought it and started reading it, I realized that Leko has a lot of knowledge to share and that he really does care about relationships that work. Also, he puts a lot of responsibility on the guy, which means that for the case of Bill, it made him think a lot about the things he had been doing wrong and what he would do to improve them. It wasn't him trying to change ME anymore, it was us working together to achieve the goal of having a good relationship. So, guys out there who are hurting about a girl, buy this book and go get her back. You won't regret it!!!

I thought it was going to be super manipulative and selfish. It was none of those things. It is a very respectful analysis on how relationships work and don't work, and the things guys do to make their lives miserable, and how to avoid said misery. Being an older person with some experience in the matter, I can say that the author is right on with his points, and that they work.This is more of a book on how to get the right relationship. Yes you can get the old one back, but is that really going to be good for you the author asks of us. Heed this advice and save yourself some pain. Has some good stories on women to avoid and why.

The stickers aren't huge, but there are a good number of them, and they look really nice when you make groups out of them. They are nice and subtle on the wall, adding decoration and some color, but not screaming "I PUT STICKERS ON MY WALLS!" So far, they stick really well, yet allowed me to peal up and re-position them easily before I stuck them with force. This is a great little addition to your house for the price!

They peel off quite easily and leave behind no residue. The book keeps the rest of the stickers safely stored away until you know where to put them. These aren't huge stickers-- the largest is maybe 10-12"-- but they're visible on light and medium walls and you can't see the outline of the plastic so it looks like they were painted on!

And I found inspiration in the pieces and the accompanying text. I could have used more information about the techniques and materials used for some of the work.

INCITE 3, The Art of Story Telling By Wise Man As the book states, "We all have stories, no matter where we have been, which are only ours and deserve to be told." INCITE 3 is more than an art instruction book. It inspires and illustrates many diverse ways an artist can tell his/her story with media. Very special!

First of all, I couldn't design my way our of a cardboard box. So, the fact that this is written in simple terms, that even a child can understand, gives me hope that I could actually put my passions into a blank space. Katherine Allen obviously has some fabulous credentials and could speak eloquently about space and design. But, this colorful book tells me she has a fresh, child's eye when she considers space. With the workbook in the back, it's a GREAT primer for anyone who is tackling their first (second...third...) decor project.Aside from all that ^^^... This is the CUTEST little book! I L-O-V-E the illustrations!

By Anna Augusto What a wonderful book about the design process. Katherine describes the design process in a format that is both playful and approachable for readers of all ages. Many times I have found it difficult to start the process of bringing an idea or concept into action, although next time I think about starting a project, I will easily be able to reference little Emily and her playful and experimental attitude about creating spaces that inspire and inform the soul. I love everything about this book, and would highly recommend it to anyone who simply wants to add a little cheer to their day and gather valuable information at the same time.

An Impressive Evernote Reference for Genealogy Research By Moultrie Creek I was delighted when Kerry Scott asked me to review her new book, How to Use Evernote for Genealogy. I was even more delighted when she forwarded me a review copy in PDF format. That copy now is loaded with highlights, bookmarks and notes. I thought I knew Evernote until I read this book. Kerry has given me dozens of ideas on using Evernote to improve my research workflows, manage my notes and even simplify everyday tasks. This book is amazing!The book begins by covering Evernote basics and although I expected to breeze through it, I found a number of tips and features that were new to me. Kerry does a marvelous job demonstrating how to use Evernote with research examples we all regularly encounter. If you weren't already an Evernote fan, this book will convince you to become one. In addition to step-by-step instructions, you'll also find power-user tips, workflow recommendations and success strategies.My favorite chapters were the ones on tags and searching. These two features have done more to make my research manageable than decades of organizational gurus. Kerry starts with the basics and then offers a number of ideas to make the most of them. I loved her "Emma" tip for dealing with people who have multiple surnames. She offers tips for simple searches along with details on taking advantage of all Evernote's searchable elements.Chapter 8 is titled "Putting It All Together" and it does just that. She takes many of the everyday research elements and adapts them for use within Evernote. From correspondence logs to research plans, you'll see how Evernote can make them even more useful. There are also a number of great ideas for using Evernote to geotag notes, track DNA results and index records as you capture them.The book is full of checklists, worksheets and forms that can be used to set up Evernote for genealogical research. Didn't think I needed Evernote By mbm1311 Currently I don't use Evernote but plan to use it to work on long term genealogy projects.Long "todo" lists never get done, so I don't create them. Also I used the ScanSnap effectively, if I lost everything, I could recreate my genealogy work in one day. All my important files are digitized. I didn't see a reason to use Evernote for genealogy.After reading Kerry Scott's book I'm starting the following and using Evernote to track each project:Brick wall note book: An in-depth write up of my question, my current thinking and my research plan.FAN club research.Proof Summaries of my first and second generation immigrants. Most are from IrelandA notebook to capture all my pdfs.A notebook to transcribe census records. A fill in the blank template will work best for me.Thank you for such a good book. Lots of good ideas, with step by step instructions. Even worth it for the person who doesn't see a big need for Evernote. There are many more ideas in this book!

Nichols Very useful book but I think I will use One Note instead, at least it's free. To use all the features of Evernote, you have to pay $49.99 per year, which I think is ridiculous. I wouldn't mind paying once for it but I am not going to pay every year.
