Each one chosen with care and obviously reflecting a very particular relationship. I was teary at the beautiful stories of redemption and rescue, arranged next to images that truly capture the beloved soul inhabiting a furry face. For anyone who has loved a beast, I highly recommend this beauty. I would love to see more.

They are just like any other dog that deserves a caring, loving home. I am so glad that part of my purchase will go to the Labrador and Friends Dog Rescue Group. I highly recommend this book to anyone, especially dog lovers like myself!!

Get Candice Crockett's _Card Weaving_ book first. When you decide you're ready to get geeky about tablet weaving then this is the book for you.

Very thorough book on this art By Janna Jansen The most complete instructional and historical documentation of tablet weaving ever contained in one book. Techniques are categorized into 17 weave structures with chapters devoted to each.Chapters:-historical introduction-introduction of terms used-equipment-yarns-warping-threading and manipulation of tablets-starting, finishing, and varying the width of a band-warp-twined bands and their characteristics-warp-twined bands with all cords equally twined between successive picks-warp-twined bands with all cords not equally twined between successive picks-bands whose structure is predominantly plain weave, hopsack, gauze or twill-bands whose structure is a double-faced weave based on 3-span warp floats in alternate alignment-weft-patterning of tablet-woven bands-using an extra non-twining warp-special warp and weft manipulations unrelated to the weave structure-other possibilities-ways of producing a warp-twined structure without tables

Fantastic By spotsandstripes Once you have started to Card Weave and have a little knowledge but want more and want true understanding of what is actually happening, get this book. It will answer all your questions. It is not, however, a beginners guide to get you up and running. It isn't a step by step guide although he does explain particular procedures in very great detail. It's just that there are no projects in it for you to try from start to finish like other "How To" books. If you are a beginner get Candace Crockett's book and try a few projects and then buy this one. It will answer all your questions and provide you with more methods than the Crockett book.

Yung Five months ago, my friends asked me to officiate (and write the ceremony for) their wedding. I said yes without hesitation but really had no idea of what was involved. I read a bunch of articles online and looked at an example from a friends' wedding. I started putting some pieces together but none of the articles gave me a coherent picture of what I should be doing. About two weeks before the wedding, I read this book and it made things much clearer; it would have saved me a lot of worrying and scrambling.Despite only having a couple weeks to wrap up the ceremony, I was able to rework major parts of it to make it flow in a more natural way, add some really meaningful interactions with the wedding guests, cut and paste sections directly out of the book for the ring ceremony and the final blessing of the couple. It was really useful to have examples to draw from, especially when the married-couple-to-be asked me to make sure the ceremony was at least 20 minutes long to give the photographers enough time to get all the photos (my practice runs were clocking in at 13 minutes).Having the ceremony come together in a coherent way was a huge confidence-booster. This book helped me understand the different parts of the ceremony and how they should flow together while also providing examples that were great starting points for customization. There are tons of articles about this, but they all present information in bite-sized pieces; this book gives a really nice holistic view with a great appreciation for the duty that you are performing by officiating the wedding.The happy couple were married this past weekend. Despite it being 90 degrees outside with all of us in direct sunlight, I think they enjoyed the ceremony (and so did their guests).

A Modern and Flexible Guide, with Theory and Examples By Ryan McIntyre My youngest brother was married in May,and I was the officiant for his ceremony. While I am a veteran officiant (did it for my middle brother years ago and a college friend before that), each time I have put a ceremony together, it has been a time consuming and somewhat stressful affair. Luckily, Cristina shared a pre-publication of her book with me, and was incredibly helpful.I looked through a handful of other wedding ceremony planning books during the process, and found most of them to be both trite and old-fashioned.Cristina's book, on the other hand, had a great discussion of the underlying structure of a ceremony, and then numerous examples of actual ceremonies she's performed, each with a distinct and different personality.My brother's ceremony came together much more quickly once I had this book in-hand, and I received a huge number of genuine and heartfelt compliments on the ceremony during the reception afterwards. Most importantly, close family and friends were the most impressed and appreciative. I know my finished product was dramatically improved because I had Cristina's book as a resource.

I was asked to officiate a secular wedding of two dear friends. Although it is such an honor, it's also an immense amount of pressure. I've never officiated a wedding before, and don't know how to even write a wedding ceremony. After tons of researching, buying other books and guides, I found this one to be the best. Not only does it give you a detailed breakdown of what a ceremony entails, there are tons of examples and sample ceremonies you can use. The author is very knowledgeable, and her language is clear, precise, and intimate. It makes the entire ceremony much more personalized and unique to each couple. I found myself copying straight out of the book! Once I drafted something together with the guidance of this book, I showed it to my friends and they LOVED it. I'm so relieved and grateful. Thank you for creating this book!

I also love all the wonderful stories of cats who found forever homes. This is the second book of cat stories and I must say it is even better than the first. All the authors have a way with words and really have a heart for rescuing cats. This book has heartwarming stories that sometimes are so beautiful they will make you close to tears. I did not find very many sad stories so that was good. It seems most of these stories have happy endings. It seems that for every person who abandons a cat there is a wonderful person who is willing to rescue the cat. So much good work is being done in the world and this is one of the books that proves it. Here is what the stories are about:1. A cat is rescued from Indian along with a dog. Most people rescue cats from their own community so I was intrigued that someone would go halfway around the world for the love of cats.2. Freya and Sig are difficult cats but they help a man find meaning and purpose.3. This is a shocking story of an abandoned mother and her kittens. Fortunately they are found in time and saved. What really connected me with this story was all the pictures. Wow I'm so happy this situation turned out good.4. A depressed person finds a kitten and therefore finds strength to care and love again. This story is so beautiful it might make you cry.5. Romeo's story is pretty funny.6. A cat and a dog become friends and playmates.7. Why are there people who abandon kitties in the wild. It is so cruel. This story may make you a little angry at humans. But the truth is we found our best cat by the side of the road too.8. In this story and outdoor kitty finds a forever home.9. A feral cat is slowly tamed. Quite the story.10. A story about a polydactyl cat who is rescued for the back yard.11. A dog and street cat fall madly in love. Get your tissues out for this story.12. A little kitten is found in the middle of the road. She miraculously is not hurt.13. Three cats become best friends. Mr. Graycat become the family protector.14. The author happens upon a feral colony of 20 cats. In this story three kittens find a home.15. It is interesting to read in this story that so many cat owners have been trained to turn on faucets for their cats. We hada cat that loved us to do that too.16. A grouchy kitten grows up to be a loving cat.17. This story shows how the pain of loss can somewhat be relieved when you find a new cat to rescue. This story made me cry.18. This story has a disastrous start but a happy ending.19. In this story a exhausted, starving and terrified cat is saved.20. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great sequel! By Robin3rd This collection of stories is just as sweet as the first Rescued Kitties book. I absolutely loved this sequel! These touching stories ranged from the whimsically cute to the heart-warming tear jerkers. There were two things that impressed me the most about this book. First, I am amazed by the selfless nature of these storytellers. I'm sure they would all say that they are getting much more in return, but I am so impressed with the lengths that they go to for their kitties. Secondly, I love the pictures of the kitties at the end of each story. What a nice touch! There were many times when I would actually say, "Awww" out loud when I got to the picture of the kitty. I highly recommend this book and hope that the authors publish even more.

This is a practical guide to what to do now to educate customers - to help them make an educated decision that's in their best interest. Life insurance is an important cornerstone to proper financial planning. Your customers deserve to make an educated decision. When you're the source of that education, they will buy from you. It's as simple as that. Don't deny them this important process. By Amazon Customer I found this book to be well written and easy to understand. Ray does a good job explaining the importance of making real emotional connections with the client and linking the solution back to the client's emotional needs. There is nothing under-handed in this approach. It makes a lot of sense in an industry which is heavily product focussed and at the expense of sometimes forgetting what are the real reasons why the customer wants to buy in the first place. I felt the book was a little light in the prospecting area, and for that reasons 4 and not 5 stars. Recommended.

Scott I haven't used this as yet; but I've paged through it; I was looking for more Pegasus pictures than unicorns, because Pegasus, overall, seems rarer in terms of artwork. About the Author JOHN KINYON has mediated conflicts in a variety of contexts, including couples, family, community, business, legal, and institutional. A practical and clear step by step guide By Manfred Ike and John's work appears invaluable to me and I feel confident it will be valuable for everyone who wants to learn how to deal with conflict - including professional meditators. It is not a book that pretends to give you some quick fix strategies. It gives you strategies and teaches you how to practice and integrate them. In my experience most (communication) skills can not be learned by just reading a book, you have to practice. It is like learning to play the piano. You can read about playing the scales until the cows come home, you gotta sit down and practice to master the piano. This is one key element I love about this book - it provides not just knowledge and how-to’s - it offers exercises for all the skills it describes.I remember after practicing nonviolent communication for over a decade, that I still got blocked when I had an intense conversation - or lets call it conflict - with my romantic partner. All the knowledge and years of practice went out of the window when the going got tough. Certainly, in the training I received I learned: "Just stay present" or "Calm down" those arbitrary instructions did not work for me. How to stay present is just one tiny element this book teaches. To learn this valuable "hack" changed my ability to "stand in the fire" and to be able to use the skills I have and to stay connected with me and the person in front of me. What I describe here is just a tiny element of the book and yet so valuable. The book is full with valuable "hacks" and howto's. It covers the whole circle from how to prepare yourself - or others - before the dialogue (Enemy-Image Process for an example); how to facilitate a dialogue and as well how to process/integrate your experience afterwards. Most of the processes are applicable for inner conflicts, conflicts between you and others, or mediating conflict between others. I love that the book describes a process, breaks it down in steps, and offers practical exercises and implementation strategies furthermore it provides a link to video demonstrations (for most of the processes).I highly recommend Ike and John's work to everyone who wants to learn how to deal with conflict - with or without nonviolent communication (NVC) skills, or even professional mediators. For those with NVC background: this book is full of clear structured NVC processes which I have not found in any other book so far. For those who study mediation: If you interested in learning transformative mediation and how to apply it than read this book, it contains the practical knowledge you want to have when you meet your clients (and your own challenges).

This is billed as a book for beginning knitters. It has lots of useful basic info in the first three chapters, especially about yarns and needles and so forth. The chapter on actual stitches seems way more than beginner level, though. The ideas that a beginner is going to a) learn from a description in a book, and b) learn to knit and purl pretty much simultaneously, seem pretty insane to me. Teach the newbie the knit stitch. Then use the knit stitch over and over in some simple projects (washcloth? scarf?). Only then should they be confused with the purl stitch, much less mixing up knitting and purling. Seriously.Honestly, learning to knit (and purl) is easier via youtube videos and online video knitting tutorials than from a book. Of course, it is probably easier to learn from another human in person but not everyone has that opportunity.The fifth chapter included discussion of color theory that was just way out of place and not very useful in the Kindle format I read. It's a beginner book about knitting so color theory is just a major tangent really.The last chapter is supposed to be beginning patterns and projects and few of them seem beginning level to me (a beginner). The washcloth and scarf are far down the list of projects and should be first. Seriously.However, I did learn loads of useful things about yarns and needles and sizes and so forth, especially in the first three chapters (of six total). I was put off by the number of typos, though, which usually reflects more on the editor than the author. Why doesn't someone hire me to edit their books? Honestly, some of those are pretty blatant.Since this book was free (it happened to be free as part of this set on the Kindle a few days ago), it's worth at least two stars on the basis of those first three informative chapters, but the heart of the matter, how to knit, is probably not delivered in the best way possible in chapter four and beyond that the level is not beginner, but something more advanced than that.I'm a bit concerned that I will not ever be advanced enough for the other two books.

Anyone can started knitting with the help of this book and can continuously improve their skills on knitting. This is a good habit and very relaxing to do for me. The contents are easy to understand and full of necessary information that we need to know about knitting. Highly recommended.

About the Author

Gail Pope is the Founder and President of BrightHaven Animal Sanctuary, Rescue, and Hospice (www.brighthaven.org) in northern California near Santa Rosa. For more than two decades, her focus has been on helping senior and special needs animals on a journey of holistic healing, all the way through hospice care and transition. She has also created a comprehensive education program for caregivers to realize these options for their own animals.

Born and educated in Harrow, England, Gail’s early career path included investment banking and the airline industry before her relocation to the United States in 1986. Living in Southern California, Gail was employed as personal assistant to actress Stefanie Powers and by the William Holden Wildlife Foundation, afterwards forming her own travel agency with daughter Kirstie. The agency was sold three years later when Gail, after a life-changing revelation, decided to form an animal rescue organization. She then worked for several years with veterinarian Dr. Douglas Coward to gain experience suited to her new direction.

Since 1991, Gail’s work in the world of animal healthcare and hospice has been widely acclaimed. Gail primarily employs classical veterinary homeopathy in the care of her animals and is a certified Animal Reiki teacher. She is proud to have served as a founding board member for The International Association of Animal Hospice and Palliative Care.

Gail and her work have been featured in many publications, including Best Friends, Animal Wellness, the LA Times, Orange County Magazine, and the Orange County Register, as well as on Access TV, Channel 50, and in regular appearances on Animal Talk Naturally.

I live in Spain and it's not easy to find resources like this on hospice care for animals. This book has lots of great information.

This book made it easier for me to decide to "go natural" and I was able to read the end signs a bit better and make him comfortable - staying with him right up to the end. The first doggie passing that didn't leave me feeling guilty. The book helped.

Caring for older animals should come with a different instruction manual. Well, this is it!Filled with many suggestions for the best hospice care you can offer, including working with your veterinarian regarding your decision to let your pet pass at home, finding holistic practitioners, and preparing yourself, your family and your pet.This book does NOT advocate abandonment of veterinary care. Far from it. But it does suggest that when the end is near, regardless of the form it took to reach the last days, perhaps you can give love and care and let the death journey be a sacred time.Many people feel that their beloved animal must be euthanized when it has reached the end, but dying is a natural process that doesn't always require the use of the euthanasia drug. Death is the natural exchange of energy. If you can keep your animal clean and free of suffering, then just BE with him or her. What a wonderful gift you'll be giving your friend and yourself.

Beautifully Detailed Designs for Coloring By DrJonesDrJones This book was available as the digital edition through the Kindle Unlimited borrowing program. The designs are so much fun. I had never tried a coloring book like this, but jumped right in with what I had on hand.Since I was just doing the coloring for me, I decided to relax and make a decision that there was no right or wrong way to color. I'm certain there are ways to make these drawings much more beautiful, but I had fun. I used ordinary printer paper and some colored pencils that I already had. There was no marking on the pencils to indicate brand. They might have been crayola. They weren't great for blending, but then I was on copy paper.The designs had symmetry that was pleasing to me. The shapes were well integrated.Coloring books seem to be everywhere right now. Who knew they would take off they way they have? I like to think they are a chance for adults to let their hair down (if they have any left ) and just have fun. Make a picture to put up on the refrigerator. Take chances with colors. Feel foolish and smile.I know people who are VERY serious about their coloring. These are real colorists who know what they are doing and make amazing art. I envy them and don't pretend to be in the same league with them. But in the privacy of my home, with my little bundle of no-name colored pencils, I made something no one else had done and now I'm sharing it with anyone who wants to see.This particular book has designs that are very well-suited for coloring. I'm glad I took the plunge. I'm going to try markers next!

I enjoy your art. The Mandalas are not for the soft at heart. I recommend this coloring book for the intermediate and advanced. The beginner, if you are looking for a challenge this is a good one.

Useful Reference By Barbara Frederick After volunteering to help a local non-profit catalog their books, and discovering that I don't really understand how to find the Dewey numbers on the Internet (not very reliably, anyway), I decided I needed to know what Dewey is really about. I also decided I want to index and label my own home library. I bought a bunch of little tiny labels and this book. So far I'm not brave enough to assign numbers myself, but I can use this to find the book I need when I don't remember where I put it. We bookaholics need all the help we can get!
