1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. and a practical useful book, all rolled into one By David Wiseman This is an interesting book, an intellectually stimulating book, educational in a number of ways, and a practical useful book, all rolled into one. For instance did you know that one in every fifty Americans may have a type of hoarding problem? In other words, you, or a relative, or a friend, or several of your co-workers are hoarders!The author goes into the many varied reasons why a hoarder develops a hoarding problem. He does it with compassion, and understanding. And he suggests that treatment be done with compassion as well. Treatment consists of helping the hoarder check out his/her thinking pattern - if it is rational or not, and then change irrational thoughts that help to perpetuate the hoarding problem. As the thinking pattern becomes more rational, so does the person's behaviors, and eventually this leads to a reduction in hoarding, and slow-but-sure clean up of the mess.It is suggested that family members work with the hoarder, not behind his or her back, nor in a mean, confrontational manner. (This may requiresome healthy family members, which some hoarders may not have!) Also, contrary to what you see on TV shows about hoarders, people shouldn't impose and/or force their own standards on the hoarder. But they should intervene when the family's quality of living is jeopardized by the hoarder's behavior.At times, the book got "clinical" but bottom line, it gave some very practical tips on clean-up and how to reward the hoarder for doing so. There were also some helpful links to a couple of evaluation tools, and links to more info at several websites.Well worth the price, and had useful information. You'll never know when you may need it!

This kind of people always thinks that everything can be used but cannot understand the essence of his thoughts. This practice can bore and disturb others; a person having hoarding problems does not care anyone. This problem forces a person to live alone. He looks for perfection in anything. This book tried to explore the probable causes and solution to the problem. The reader who will start to read the book can get some steps to treat hoarding. In a word, I can call this book as first aid to hoarding problem. You can take a short look to the six steps to treat it which are recognizing the problem, identifying reasons for hoarding, identifying faulty beliefs and correct them, identifying faulty behaviors and correct them, clean up, maintaining and prevent relapse.

Great Hoarding Book By Edmer This book has helped me diagnose the disorder that I suffer from and provided me impactful strategies to overcome the disorder. I am going to try some of the strategies right away esp. the one that says - avoid flea markets and garage sales.This book has taught me that 'collecting' a large supply of often unnecessary items isn't healthy. Likewise this book gave new insights about the impact and frustrating problems of Hoarding. I'm glad I got this easy to read e-book, now I can get a handle on my own situation. The author did a great job. I highly recommend.

About the Author Tina Swithin survived a Category Five Divorce Hurricane and took shelter by writing her first book titled, "Divorcing a Narcissist: One Mom's Battle" along with chronicling her journey on her internationally recognized blog, "One Mom's Battle." In 2009, Tina embarked on a hellish custody battle while acting as her own attorney and in 2013, Tina's battle came to an end when she walked out of a courtroom with the one thing that she had dedicated her life to securing: her daughters' safety. Tina recently finished her second book, "Divorcing a Narcissist: Advice for the Battlefield" which provides guidance and advice for those in the trenches of a high-conflict divorce. In 2015, she published her third book, "Rebuilding After the Storm." Tina has chosen to assume the title of survivor versus victim and has become an advocate for change in the Family Court System after seeing the flaws first-hand. Tina has been instrumental in the start-up of one-hundred chapters of "One Mom's Battle" throughout five different countries (United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa and United Kingdom). Tina believes that the courts have lost sight of their primary focus, which should be the best interest of the child and instead, are focusing too heavily on mothers' rights and fathers' rights. Tina is the "go-to" girl for divorcing a narcissistic/sociopathic spouse. She has truly been a warrior and knows her stuff. This book, unlike her others, addresses the person who has managed to come through the fire and survive and faces the question of "Now what?" Very practical advice for ensuring that all the pain and suffering you have endured is NOT for naught and that you can indeed come out better and wiser!

Upcycling Crafts Boxset By Avid Reader This set is perfect for the thrifty crafter; upcycling is a great way to re-use old items in your home that would have otherwise been thrown away. This boxed set includes endless craft projects that will look great in any house with any decorating taste. I love the variety and scope of this compilation of projects and look forward to trying out all of them. I would recommend this boxed set especially to those who like collecting odds and ends, or those who just have too many seemingly useless objects at home. This book is very helpful for moms like me.I love reading this book it feels like I'm a fashion designer and I've wanted to upcycle my old clothes.I was hooked up on the process on how to upcycle the pants.One of my favorite is the cat printed jeans It was hard finding one in the clothing shop but I'm very happy that I can do one,I will just follow few of the steps in this book so I can perfectly have a Cat Printed Jeans and this book arrived to me in a perfect timing because I'am thinking what to wear this coming Halloween party and finally I would love to wear the Cat Printed Jeans.I love to try more of the Upcycling crafts in this book so I can recycle all our old clothes.Thanks to Kitty Moore,this book is really helpful to me.I would love to highly recommend this book to all my friends.

The sample projects were very interesting and gave me some great ideas for my projects. The recipe card tea towels are a particularly great idea if you happen to have something written out by a beloved cook in your life. So many derivations from that simple idea have been teeming in my mind. My family had better watch out next Christmas!As for the instructional quality. I'm a graphic design and prepress professional who has done a fair amount of training newbies over the years. The basic how-tos are detailed enough to get a beginner started without being overwhelming. This is a VERY good thing!If you've never done graphic design on computers, I suggest supplementing this book with a beginner-level how-to book for the software you happen to be using. (Those "For Dummies" books are a good start.)

Pollock I suppose that i should begin with a few disclosures, as i am hardly an impartial reviewer. I bought the book at the book release party on-site at the Durham production facility. Spoonflower is a local company with offices literally just up the street from my house. I count more than one friend (and one alumna of the graduate program in which i teach) among their employees, and I have been a customer and designer of theirs for years. That said, i don't have any affiliation with this book and its authors beyond being a fan of the text.So, what's the book like?One could argue that it is a book-length infomercial for Spoonflower, which i suppose is technically true, in that there's a lot of information about how specifically one can use the company to produce textile designs, wallpaper, and gift wrap (the three products they print). But on a general level, there's an enormous amount of useful information about the basics of print designs--everything from how to use both analog and digital tools to create your designs, to how one might create a seamless repeat in a range of different configurations. The book does touch on some of the more "pro" programs for digital design, but also illustrates techiques and methods that are decidedly low-tech and non-intimdating for those who have no proficiency with, say, Photoshop.The first section is a sort of overview of textiles and design--discussions of everything from types of fabrics one can print on (knits/wovens, fiber contents) to the definition of digital design terms like raster and vector based image files, hex codes, dpi, and so forth.The structure of the second half of the book is project-based, with specific how-to craft projects, each of which addresses a different technique or medium. So, an example of a simple project for working with a digital photograph is the Doppelganger Dog Pillow (which involves printing a photo of your pet and making a pillow out of it), whereas a project addressing working with text involves creating a repeat for the Typographic Wrapping Paper.Overall, it's an excellent book for demystifying digitally-printed textiles (and papers), which will appeal to hobby crafters, fashion designers, costumers, prop artisans, interior decorators, scrapbookers, and sewing enthusiasts. In terms of its specific appeal to theatre professionals, it's a good book to have in your arsenal, though it covers little new ground not already addressed by Kimberly Kight's Field Guide to Fabric Design.

I would look at the entries longingly wishing I could also design fabric. Well, now I can thanks to this wonderful book! Every step is spelled out in detail. Plus, there are many terrific projects included.I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in designing and having fabric printed plus anyone interested in great fabric design projects!
