Alex Salmond is a Scottish politician and former First Minister of Scotland. He was Leader of the Scottish National Party from 1990 to 2000 and again from 2004 to 2014. He is currently the Member of the Scottish Parliament for Aberdeenshire East, having served as a Member of Parliament from 1987 to 2010. In 2015 he is seeking to return to the House of Commons for the Aberdeenshire constituency of Gordon.

By DBG It is a book about the Scottish Referendum of September 2014. A first hand account by the First Minister at the time, Alex Salmond, leader of the Scottish National Party. Alex Salmond had been responsible for forming a formidable team which followed him to form a Government for Scotland with an over all majority in its second term.The book feels as though he sat down and penned it. From the horse's mouth to the people's hands, where it stays without bother. It's difficult to put it down, the facts are there, but much more as well. An understanding of thought processes that had been gone through and the relationship at various moments between the competitors.I personally had to force myself to stop reading and go to bed, making sure to put a book mark on the page at half past one in the morning.....

It chronologically outlines the events and thoughts of the FM during the run up to the independence referendum. The pace starts quite slow and builds in momentum and speed. For me, the most important and enjoyable part of this book occurs from the week before the referendum to the days following the referendum. If you start to read this and can't get into it straight away, please persevere and I am sure that you will not be disappointed.

By Daedalus In the run up to the referendum I returned 'home' to Scotland and was mystified by the attitude of my eldest sister who living in an remote part of the Highlands, told me she did not trust Alex Salmond and was sufficiently concerned that she was going to vote no in the referendum. She was not able to tell me why she felt this way, she has never met him, and she didn't know of anything he had done that she could pinpoint as the source of her unease, and I formed the opinion, I still hold that he has been the victim of character assassination by the main stream press who are quick to cut down to size any person who dares to be an unregulated tall poppy.I acknowledge that in some aspects of his writing he is deficient but he is some one who has spent most of his early life in finance and not writing, furthermore he reminds me of many other persons I have encountered who were single minded and self assured whilst being prominent and leading in their field. This is wrongly interpreted by some as arrogance, but Alex is not arrogant! however he is very self confident in his public expression. He is a great leader, he took a divided failing party, unified them and overturned huge obstacles, the result today is all Scottish MPs, bar 3 are from his party.I do note one review here is from a raging opponent of Salmond who scored him 1 star. That's politics! but what is clear he hadn't even taken the trouble to read the book!For me the book gave insights to the day by day issues that played out from his narrow perspective. I have also read what Iain Macwhirter wrote on this period and this gives a differing perspective. All very interesting.Politically he is in a league of his own, it is this that sets him apart, I look forward to this next term in Westminster where he will be a wolf amongst sheep. Baa Baa!

The author agrees that she herself is not a "true" minimalist according to other minimalists but her ideas are very useful. The beginin of the book is an introduction to what the minimalist lifestyle is. She explains how you change your life just a liitle at a time so that your life is happy based on your life memories and what you accomplish verses what you have and comparing yourself to others.The 26 ways to simplify your life are broken down into nice short chapters that explain each method. There is no guilt in not doing one or only doing one method to help make your life easier. The steps include things like getting rid of clutter, lowering your debt, getting rid of bad relationships, and getting rid of those just in case items you keep around your home.She continues to discuss in one step actually step 14 , how it is uncomfortable to begin this process. I enjoyed hearing that. Learning why I hang on to stuff and how to let go can be painful. She does not judge anyone, nor step on personal regilious beleifs or personal beleifs. The author discusses her own lifestyle thru the book and even discusses her families multi cultural religious beleifs. The idea of being a minimalist is your own and not any one elses. People / spouses may join in based on what they see from you, but all in all is very personal. I also enjoyed her view points on that.I beleive I wont be a full minimalist or live the minimalism full lifestyle but the book gave me some great ideas on money, friendships and decluttering my house. I know I will use a few of the ideas to possibly make my own life just a little easier. I beleive everyone can make their life a little easier one way or another.

I will review you a couple of a points that he states within the book. To me the most important point " think about your life", pay off your debts". Here are a couple others that really struck a cord with me: realize that stuff does not bring permit happiness more stuff doesn't make you more successful, rest your goals its not just physical belongings, shop local, say goodbye to " I'll keep it just in case". Minimalism in the digital age, de-cluttering is more than physical. Another great point which is great for any and or everybody "make better use of your money". Of course the author Bert Garza goes into detail on each point that I highlighted, along with so very much more. Yes its a book about minimalism but its also a book on how to navigate the waters of this chaotic world. In my opinion every high school senior should read this...

By Questar This is an easy going read with important points to consider & suggestions on achieving the goals set forth, if those are the ones you choose to implement in your life. Think about your life and make a list of your ultimate goals; clear out the negative-happiness comes from memories & experiences, not stuff. Stuff does not bring happiness, success, nor self worth; do not become a slave to possessions which end up possessing you. Set priorities, your future is defined by what you do today. Live in the present. And it is not just about possessions... you can't change people but you can change which people you allow into your life. Declutter your thoughts, appreciate & enjoy every moment. Minimalism isn't just getting rid ofeverything you really don't need, it is focusing on things in you life that matter. Less stuff, more freedom. There are photos for a nice visual break in reading. This is worth the read.

About the Author Toy Poodle Training Author Paul Allen Pearce | No BRAINER Dog TRAINER |Dog Training the Toy Poodle Paul Allen Pearce is the author of many breed specific “NoBRAINERDogTRAINER” dog-training books. When his family duties allow, he spends his spare time outdoors with his two dogs Buck and Samson. He lives in the South Eastern part of the United States. As a youth, a family trip to Australia forever changed the course Paul would take on his way to return home to South Carolina to begin a family, raise dogs, and eventually write. For a year in high school, Paul headed back to Australia to study, and then again, during college he did the same. After finishing college, he headed to Africa to work with the Peace Corps. Paul’s family is dog lovers and often took in strays. Paul and his siblings were taught how to care and train the family pets and dogs. Both his parents grew up with many animals and had generational knowledge to pass forth to their offspring. Being reared around all sorts of animals, his curiosity to work with animals grew. Upon returning back to the U.S. and purchasing his own dog he realized he didn’t know as much as he could, thus began his journey into owning and full time dog training. Dog training is my passion. I love dogs, animals, and the wonders of nature. It is easy to write about your passion and share what you have learned and discovered. I hope that my readers enjoy and learn from what I have learned and improve their dog relationships. While not the ultra-detailed art of the most popular books, this collection makes up for it in variety. Roses? Check. Skulls? Check. Fairies? Check. Tribal? Check. In fact stream punk, geometrics, portraits, flowers, mythology, and more! The art is basic line style without shading or fussy details, but certainly not a child's book. So far I have not found anything above a PG-13 rating (the ladies are endowed by not spilling out of their costumes, etc.). Some pages have multiple images. Some are like the cover with tight groupings. Most are fairly typical for basic tattoo art.Rejoice! The pages are single sided!And while the paper is not heavy it has enough weight to be mixed media ready.These images are great with colored pencils, gel pens, some water based markers, and even light watercolors. Always test first (that's what the pros do). Mixing it up works, too, just make sure each layer is dry first.Sharpies, Copics, as well as other oil based markers will go through the page and mare the reverse side. This isn't all bad as long as you plan accordingly and use a slip sheet since some will bleed through multiple pages. When in doubt, copy onto quality card stock first.I do a lot of collage in my art journals and this book is perfect. I can color to match a theme and my other supplies, then cut the images out. You can avoid fussy cutting right on the outlines if you take the time to integrate colors into the background on the page.I especially like that I can put as much or as little coloring time as I want with this book and still have a finished image. Art like the Enchanted Forest and all the mandalas require tons of detail with no way to cheat. Here it can be all about shading and blending if you want, or not.This coloring book is perfect for you if you want a huge variety of things to color, love to play around with different supplies, and don't want all those annoying details in the best sellers. If you want you can checkout some of the YouTube and blogs... or not! This book is a great buy!

After all, I have so many balls of scrap yarn left over from projects throughout many years of knitting and crochet projects. Some are quick and can be done in minutes like coasters and jewelry, others are weaving and stitching projects that you could zen out and spend time with your favorite fibers giving them a new life like upcycling an old lawn chair. Lots of the projects combine other unusual and unexpected materials like clear tubing to make unique conversation starter designs.

It's rare to get a book that has so many incredible projects...you honestly want to make every single one for yourself or as a gift for a pal. It's not just the projects, the book itself will inspire you to dig deep and use what you have to make something spectacular. Pom Pom chair YES, Gradient necklace OMG and the lamp on the cover, it is amazing and, honestly, pretty gosh darn easy with the super duper directions. To close the scene of all his actions he Was brought from Newgate to the fatal tree; And there his life resigned, his race is run, And Tyburn ends what wickedness begun. If there be a haunted spot in London it must surely be a few square yards that lie a little west of the Marble Arch, for in the long course of some six centuries over fifty thousand felons, traitors and martyrs took there a last farewell of a world they were too bad or too good to live in. From remote antiquity, when the seditious were taken ad furcas Tyburnam, until that November day in 1783 when John Austin closed the long list, the gallows were kept ever busy, and during the first half of the eighteenth century, with which this book deals, every Newgate sessions sent thither its thieves, highwaymen and coiners by the score. There has been some discussion as to the exact site of Tyburn gallows, but there can be little doubt that the great permanent three-beamed erection—the Triple Tree—stood where now the Edgware Road joins Oxford Street and Bayswater Road. A triangular stone let into the roadway indicates the site of one of its uprights. In 1759 the sinister beams were pulled down, a moveable gibbet being brought in a cart when there was occasion to use it. The moveable gallows was in use until 1783, when the place of execution was transferred to Newgate; the beams of the old structure being sawn up and converted to a more genial use as stands for beer-butts in a neighbouring public-house. The original gallows probably consisted of two uprights with a cross-piece, but when Elizabeth's government felt that more adequate means must be provided to strengthen its subjects' faith and enforce the penal laws against Catholics, a new type of gibbet was sought. So in 1571 the triangular one was erected, with accommodation for eight such miscreants on each beam, or a grand total of twenty-four at a stringing. It was first used for the learned Dr. John Story, who, upon June 1st, "was drawn upon a hurdle from the Tower of London unto Tyburn, where was prepared for him a new pair of gallows made in triangular manner". There is rather a gruesome tale of how, when in pursuance of the sentence the executioner had cut him down and was "rifling among his bowels", the doctor arose and dealt him a shrewd blow on the head. Doctor Story was followed by a long line of priests, monks, laymen and others who died for their faith to the number of some three thousand. And the Triple Tree, the Three-Legged Mare, or Deadly Never-green, as the gallows were called with grim familiarity, flourished for another two hundred years.

First of all it was written during the Victorian era. They didn't use frivolous words. They wrote what they meant and they meant what they wrote. Second, this book is FREE. You get what you pay for. I thoroughly enjoyed this book because the criminals in Victorian times were for the most part, men and women who had nothing to lose. Except for "high society criminals" they committed crimes to survive, unlike most of today's criminals who are just plain evil. Trials and punishments were swift and often deadly. There was no room for error. You might want to remember they didn't have DNA testing, fingerprinting, and the internet... Go on, you know you want to read it.

This Kindle edition didn't have most of the illustrations listed but the most important thing to note about this book is it's length. Its HUGE and after awhile you get the idea of what punishments fit what crimes. You can stop reading after section one essentially its all the same after that.I have a bit of OCD and couldn't *not* read it all so let me save the rest of you! :)

I became familiar with Lea Redmond online, after hearing about her "Sky Scarf" project. I bought her kit, and knitted myself a Sky Scarf in 2013. At the end of the year, I found I had gained much more than a pretty blue, grey and white scarf. I found myself looking up more often. To this day, I see pretty things in nature and think what a beautiful knitted project the colors would make. This book, "Knit the Sky" has dozens of whimsical, thoughtful idea, such as The Monster Under the Bed, a knit-in-the-dark concept for dealing with insomnia; and knitting a pencil skirt, using pencils as knitting needles! If you're ready to incorporate imagination and fun into your knitting, this book is for you!

The moon scarf is simply wonderful... twist it to match the moon in the dark sky each night. I am making one for someone I like to moon-watch with. This is a really unique knitting book... with lots of stories and ideas and patterns. Lots of easy patterns, and I highly recommend for beginning knitters, as well as experienced knitters who can use the patterns and stories to create their own unique knitting - works both ways. So creative and really puts a story in each stitch.

Whimsical Delight By M Mitchell This little e-book is like nothing you have seen before.I bought it because it looked almost mystical, and it was definitely whimsical.In this time when children and grandchildren roll their eyes if you give them something home made, Lea Redmond has found ways in which to knit the weather, the months leading up to a baby's birth, or any special occasion. It simply means that you knit a row or a square every day, thinking about its inspiration. Colours play a big part here. Lea seems like an ordinary person trying to stretch her art and find meaning.Well, she has inspired me. I am an artist and a knitter, and she has chinked open my mind to other possibilities, which is exactly what her intention was.It is a pretty book, but it is not a handbook. My biggest disappointment was that she chose not to insert photos of her own works. I understand her reason for it, she wanted my creativity to spark for itself, but to give her practice validity, I needed to see her creations.So if you are fond of whimsy, or if your muse has left you, you might enjoy Lea's mystical wanderings. I am certainly setting out to find my own way of knitting the sky.

By Susan D If you have never heard of tatting and you enjoy making thingsthat you would probably really enjoy tatting.I have tatted for a couple of years but I haven't spentenough time using the skills.Tatted Snowflakes has spurred me on to pick tatting up again.You would by amazed at the delicate and intricate snowflakesyou can make with tatting.I was thoroughly surprised about the different thingsyou can use to make that extra special design.Jennifer uses everything from beads to buttonsto make each project unique.Within this small book you will find a multitude of projectsthat create everything from decorations to jewelry.You might think snowflakes are just for Christmas butJennifer uses the snowflake design to create beautifulprojects that you'll want to use all year round.Each of the patterns are in written format but they alsohave a picture guide to help you through.I would recommend this book for someone who already tatsbut once you started tatting you will love the techniqueand love making the designs within this book.I received this book to review.However all opinions expressed are my own.No monies were exchanged.

Tatting is one of those crafts that is difficult to get your head around when you are learning, but once you get it down, you will LOVE the process!! It's really fun to see the patterns come together! These snowflakes look particularly great on the Christmas Tree or hanging from the ceiling over your office cubicle! I really had fun completing some of these. I haven't worked my way completely through the book...yet!

Arnholt This book has great diagrams, lists how much thread you should wind on your shuttles, counts the beads needed and gives stringing order, and has designs that are different from other snowflakes. Most of the flakes are smallish and could be completed in an evening. Ignore that "bad kindle formatting" and get the paper copy. It is worth every penny!
