By Rikki Coming across this Shipping Container Homes Box Set has been a fruitful endeavor for me. I have been reading about the emergence of shipping container homes and I would like to have some ideas about it. But this book set has given me more. Getting 2 books at the price of one is totally practical and a great grab. The pair is so beginner friendly but very comprehensive. It has every consideration that must be taken into account before anyone embark on living on these types of homes. Dealing with the issue on the lack of space has been so explained here and I personally appreciate it and the learning I got. Also with the Tiny Houses bonus book. Not to mention the cool pictures!

I knew the first time I saw one that they would be perfect for me. The whole idea is so wonderful since you use less money on the place where you so sleep which allows you to spend this money on things and experiences that are much more meaningful. This book goes right through everything you will need to know when getting started. I felt overwhelmed myself when getting started, but this book just takes your hand and makes all of the hard decisions simple and easy to take one by one.

What is required for better homes By Paul Robinson Building a house from shipping containers does not make it less of a structure and this is why permits and licenses are still necessary. You might encounter contractors or building agents that will suggest forgoing permits to cut costs. Although offers like this are somewhat attractive, it is a trap that you should not fall for. If you do, you will be in violation of local ordinances. Not only can you be fined for it but you will miss out on vital inspections that will ensure that your structure is up to code; meaning that it is safe to live in.

Everything is covered here from their usual professional uses, how to find them and how to take care of them. I enjoyed learning about their characteristics and just about all I wanted to know was brought to attention here. Very detailed with informative sections and lots of advice on this breed for people like me who are very interested. So glad I found this guide, I would highly recommend it.

I purchased this vizsla guide to compare with other guides I have read and I feel satisfied because Vizsla: The Complete Owners Guide is higher writing level with good pictures. This characteristic is very attractive for readers. I got all information I needed to complement my knowledge about my dogs. Also, I feel more comfortable with the terminology to understand and train the vizslas.

By artsymom234 Thank you, David, for writing an entertaining and very informative guide to what actually IS easy to grow here, besides weeds, in our hot and humid climate with ridiculously sandy and more often than not, nutrient deficient soil/sand. After years of gardening in Central Florida, I have stumbled upon a few of the veggies you recommend that did thrive, and also not get carried off by the bugs and critters before I got to them, but you have opened my eyes to so many more. A few may be a little difficult to find, but with the internet, Craigslist, and specialized gardening retailers, there are so many sources to find them besides your local box store. I love your style of gardening and writing. Throw some seeds here and there and if they grow easily and produce prolifically with minimal effort, they have earned the right to hang out in your garden. Being on a budget, also appreciate your cheap skate methods and resourcefulness to use what you have instead of recommending expensive gadgets, support structures, and soil amendments. I have purchased and enjoyed your other books as well. I highly recommend all of them. Keep up the wonderful work!

This is an essential read if you are going to grow food in Florida or anywhere in the tropics or subtropics of the world. In fact all of his techniques on soil prep and amendment, random planting and pest control can be applied anywhere except maybe Antarctica. Thank You David for sharing with the world your successes and failures of gardening in Florida. I highly recommend this book, his blog and his other books too.

By brandon carmel I was the honored recipient of the first hardcover copy, and finally got a chance to open it up today. I couldn't put it down, and finished it in one sitting. If you've had trouble growing anything edible in Florida, or if you are new to Florida gardening in general, this is a must read. Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed!

I purchased it as a gift for a friend and it was very well received. The last page had a list of who the images were supposed to be, thankfully because some of the images don't resemble what I think the musicians look like. some coloring books have too much black in them. Not this one. The images are fun with lots of white for coloring in. the pages are a nice weight of paper. It was definitely a good purchase.

By Norma Lehmeier-Hartie I enjoyed the Petersik's first book, Young House Love, so I picked up their latest today and just finished reading it. Sherry and John have a casual and approachable writing style about decorating. Their book is meant for real people who want to learn more about how to design and decorate their homes. As an interior designer for many years, I enjoy reading design books written by younger people, as I always get new ideas.The book is divided into seven sections; living, eating, sleeping, washing, entry, working and playing.The Petersik's believe that ones home can be both beautiful and comfortable and functional. Their main goal is to show the reader how to achieve this. They have kids and a pet and want everyone to live comfortably and still enjoy the beauty of their home.The books has lots of full color photographs. Before and after makeovers. Step by step instructions and DIY projects.They include both large and small design and renovation projects.They also conducted an online poll of 35,000 people to see what people like in their homes--fun!Overall, I found this book to be an inviting and illuminating read. Enjoyed it very much!Would also recommend their first book.

Not the blog, but still worth it By Clare I was a huge fan of the Young House Love blog and pre-ordered this book hoping to see a little bit more of this family's life and home. However, if you are buying this book to see the "never-before-seen makeovers in the Petersiks’ own house" don't bother - they have already posted almost all of them online and don't go into much more detail in the book. However, if you ARE interested in seeing hundreds of beautiful photos of different people's homes (and how they made it work for them) then this is the book for you. The book is clearly organized and while some of the Petersiks' suggestions are average at best, the beautiful photos make up for it. Overall I would say this book is worth the money, though it didn't entirely live up to what I had hoped it would be.

Their ideas are inspiring, affordable and attainable. I've lived on a budget for years and find so much inspiration from their ideas. How great to be able to recognize and afford products.... And how delightful to see updates on their third house since they've stepped away from their beloved blog over a year ago. I will read and reread this book for a long time to come. Thank you Petersiks for helping us to all love our homes a bit more.

The models are interesting and almost all of them contain sophisticated mechanics which are still easy to build, thanks to the comprehensible and detailed plans. Noteworthy is also the hilarious storyline connecting the individual parts of the book. But in general I'd say the sheer originality makes this worth buying, even if you never build one of the models you can still show it around when you have people over and run out of conversation topics. This book definitely makes for some good entertainment.

The text is spare but witty and informative. However, the images that are the main point of this coffee table book are wonderful and get more so the further you go back in time. There are rare Tin toys, pop-up books, and backgammon boards are crafted by true artists. You will get smacked by waves of nostalgia whenever you cross an item you have completely forgotten. There are a very few omissions in Vintage Toys, but given the rich history of its topic, it’s surprising how satisfyingly the book covers more than 170 essential items. By the way, this slip-cased edition conscientiously includes a bonus game of Nine Men’s Morris playable on the book’s back cover. You won't be disappointed, highly recommended!

About the Author Vos was born in the Netherlands an emigrated to the USA in 1881. He earned degrees from Calvin Theological Seminary, Princeton Theological Seminary, and the University of Strasbourg (Ph.D. in Arabic). In 1894 he was ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church in the USA. Before beginning his 39-year tenure on Princeton's faculty, he was professor of systematic and exegetical theology at Calvin for five years.

A Vosian Masterpiece By Gras Duibh Geerhardus Vos, the great professor of Biblical Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary, is certainly no easy read! Perhaps it is because Dutch was his first language, or perhaps it is because of the depth of material, but those who do carefully wade through his work will find themselves the better for it. The Teaching of Jesus Concerning Kingdom of God and the Church is no exception to that statement.Vos' purpose in the book was to demonstrate that a biblical concept of the Kingdom of God that was in the mind of the Jews when Jesus announced that the Kingdom was now present was less than adequate. Indeed, the Kingdom Jesus announces is new and its presence brought in something more than the reign of law in which the Jews found their ideal, and more than a national entity by which Israel would gain their glory and supremacy. Moreover, it is more than just the place where God's sovereignty is unmeasurably experienced and understood. Rather, it is supremely and ultimately the realm of God's work of salvation, which has to do with delivering individuals from the powers of Satan, darkness, and the world. And thus, Vos shows that the Kingdom of God is primarily a spiritual entity with a spiritual and moral force (thus it is connected to God's righteousness) that is otherworldly. From that, Vos demonstrates the NT understanding of the Kingdom as it manifests itself in the Church leading on to its eschatological fulness when Jesus returns. Thus, salvation comes as a result of realizing the Kingdom and its King.Of real importance is the chapter devoted to various misconceptions regarding the Kingdom, both in its present and future presence. Since is it primarily spiritual and heavenly, it is wrong to try to make the Kingdom a national and political force. On the other hand, we must be careful against relegating the Kingdom merely to the sphere of the ethical summed up by love. Modernists and liberals seek to make all religion have the same goal: teaching people how to be better people. Vos went against the message of then popular but controversial preacher, Henry van Dyke, especially as he stated his theology in his popular hymn, "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee," where he wrote, "Thou our Father, Christ our Brother, all who live in love are Thine; Teach us how to love each other, lift us to the joy divine." However, the teaching of Jesus in the Kingdom is that no one is able to better themselves enough for God's righteousness without the work of God in their lives. Vos is careful as he forcefully demonstrates that the Kingdom is a supernatural thing that brings God's grace in salvation.This book is not large, but it will require serious thought and careful reading. But it will help the reader in discovering the great truths about the Church itself that is often neglected in this present day. It will create a love for the Church and an appreciation for what became a motto of the early church (If you want God for a Father, you must have the Church for a mother).

The problem with the book isn't so much the book itself, but the difficulty of the ideas and the syntax of Vos' writing style. I am left with the distinct impression that this book *cannot* be read casually or at leisure. It is a serious book that demands a serious reader. My review, then, is not so much a review, as much as it is a practical piece of advice for the interested reader. Be prepared to be confused, or at the least, to have to fight fiercely to gain an understanding of Vos's ideas. I will need to read this book again one day, as my first time reading wasn't too beneficial. Everything went over my head (whew! There, I said it! My darkest secret!), which is unfortunate for me, I'm sure.
