This is Book 6 in The Non-Electric Lighting Series. The series is aimed at people who want to survive whatever it is that Mother Nature throws at us – blizzards, blackouts, or Carrington events. Lanterns that use mantles produce light on par with electric lights. And KEROSENE mantle lanterns have an advantage over lamps that use Coleman fuel. Kerosene is more generic, more widely available. The book has four main sections: (1) It describes six different Coleman models, old and new, made specifically for kerosene. Collectors’ items (expensive) and orphans (no spare parts) are ignored. The emphasis is on practical, day-to-day lighting. (2) It gives the specifics on converting nine different Coleman gas lanterns to kerosene (what generator to use, etc.). (3) It explains Petromax lanterns, a pre-World War II German design. World-wide, there are more Petromax lanterns (and Petromax clones) in existence than Coleman. (4) And it explains Aladdin lamps, kerosene lamps that use a mantle but are not pressurized. Aladdins have been around over a hundred years and a new model is on the verge of being introduced – the first new model in 46 years! And – oh yes! – this book names eleven different lantern models that, given the right generator-mantle combo, will burn diesel fuel. That alone is worth the price of admission! If you picture yourself being forced to live off-grid for an extended period of time, then THIS is the book you need. You don’t have to cook supper or fix the car or deliver a baby by the light of a candle. You can have light equivalent to a 50 or 100 or 200 or 300-watt electric bulb. Pressurized kerosene lanterns come from another day and age but are known, established, reliable technology. This book is not artsy-fartsy. It’s nitty-gritty.

I like the chapter about aladdin non pressure mantle lamps By jumpinjo There's just not much information out there on the subject of kerosene pressure lanterns. I really appreciate having such a resource. The writing is very plain spoken and precise. I like the chapter about aladdin non pressure mantle lamps. I own two of them and I think with the information in this book my frustration with these will be reduced. The info about converting white gas lanterns to kerosene is priceless. I am going to attempt to convert my 200A to kerosene after reading this book and watching Ron Brown"s video on youtube. More videos Mr. Brown if you can!

Good information on the various lanterns out there By RJP Good information on the various lanterns out there. His understanding of basic physics is a bit weak and it shows when he tries to explain the underlying principles of operation.Worth having if you are trying to decide what you want in a daily use lantern.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A good overview for anyone wanting to get a kerosene pressure ... By James G. Woodside A good overview for anyone wanting to get a kerosene pressure lantern and keep it running efficiently. It goes into great detail about the pros and cons of kerosene verses Coleman gas and Propane. Kerosene is easily stored and MUCH less volatile than Coleman Liquid gas/ White Gas. Kerosene pressure lanterns are an ideal survival tool. It is not a book about collecting.

By A Customer I used Mrs. White's online notes the first time I went through Publicola and those were such a help. I'm not sure we would have made it without them. I love having these in book form and look forward to using this version of Publicola with daughter #2. I am currently using volume one of The Plutarch Project with another daughter and we are enjoying it very much.

First of all, it is a large book, full of information and a ton of beautifully descriptive color photos. It is well-written and reads clearly. It contains helpful, common sense advice, and the color photos further aid in the descriptions. It includes information on the dangers of gardening with toxic chemicals, and why organic gardening is more effective and better all around. It also goes into the environmental influence of toxins, that you may not have thought about. The author explains gardening terms clearly, in case you are not fully familiar with them. It even contains important guidelines for using pH to your advantage, as well as a collection of homemade product recipes. From working at a plant nursery in the past, I recognize a good deal of the advice in this book to be true and well-agreed upon. The author obviously has the personal experience, as well as generations of family experience, to back up the information in this book. I personally, still have a lot to learn in order to be a successful gardener. I always seem to kill my plants; all but my hearty jade and spider plants. I will be using this book in order to create a lush, healthy, fruitful garden.Great Work Margaret!

Every detail is carefully written to take the guess work out of crating the perfect organic garden that fits your needs. My favorite section by far is the section on what to plant. Popular choices in a garden ( various herbs veggies such as beans, cabbages, and even some dual purpose flowers) are carefully outline. The section takes care to be specific about what plants haould be planted with or near what other plants as well as the types of pest the plant aids in repelling. This guide is comprehensive and covers all bases of a healthy pesticide fee garden whether it is for recreational use or something more. Even if you aren't starting an organic garden complete with compost, this book is great if for no other reason then while choosing which plants to add to your garden for their various uses. Loved this guide! I've already recommended it to a few of my friends who are avid gardeners and now I'm recommending it to you!

By Alexis Guerrero This book goes in depth about organic gardens, from dealing with pests to the optimization of your garden this book will tell you everything you need to know about starting your own organic garden. This book makes it a lot easier to get started and prepares you to make everything right the first time. Although gardening is no cake walk this book allows you to be creative by showing you the immense amount of possibilities and rewards of organic gardens. Ebook PDF Hitler's Valkyrie: The Uncensored Biography of Unity Mitford, by David R. L. Litchfield

Now in paperback, the first biography to reveal the full, intimate details of Unity Valkyrie Mitford's remarkable relationship with Adolf Hitler

The remarkable and much-loved Mitford family has remained largely unrepentant concerning theirs—and particularly Unity's—enthusiastic support of Hitler, the Nazis, Oswald Mosley, and British fascism. Having initially encouraged and supported Unity's affair with Hitler, they subsequently insisted that she had in fact been a rather unintelligent, clumsy lump of a girl, whose virginal relationship with one of the most terrifying dictators of all time was a mere unrequited, romantic obsession. As this book will show, nothing could be further from the truth. Following further research and re-examination of the family's, friends', and journalists' often contradictory evidence, plus new information supplied by the author's own family and friends, readers will find that while Unity was, like Hitler, an extreme fantasist, there was in fact little of the juvenile romantic about her, and that she was, on the contrary, highly intelligent, free-spirited, and athletic. She was also the only Englishwoman who came close to being capable of changing the course of World War II.

27 of 31 people found the following review helpful. Gratuitous and sensationalized By Meemselle Gratuitous and sensationalized manipulation of history is one way to put one's own spin on it. Mr. Litchfield's axe, however, is so large that I fear he will never get it ground. His vitriol for the entire Mitford family, not just Unity, is so poisonous that he blames the family for every ill to befall world history since the beginning of time. While I certainly understand his distaste for Unity Mitford--it's hard not to have an opinion of one of the most infamous women of the 20th century--it seems to me that he has allowed his very strong and not at all veiled (thinly or otherwise) opinion of the subject of this biography to color every single observation and every single conclusion drawn from his research (more later on the research). The most successful biographers are those who accept the subject as he or she was (or is) and to explore the depth and breadth of personality, but not to judge. It is frankly insulting to readers who are completely capable of forming opinions based on presented evidence. Litchfield strays so far from this premise that this work should more accurately be called an Op-Ed piece than a biography.Litchfield certainly makes some startling claims about the Mitford family, not the least of which is innuendo that the late Tom Mitford orchestrated incestuous relationships with his sisters. He finds fault with every member of the family, intimating that Lord Redesdale was incapable of writing his own letters, that Evelyn Waugh is actually the author of Nancy's earliest books, that it was impossible for Diana as a teenager to be interested in politics, that Deborah was "unwanted and overshadowed," and on and on ad nauseum. His prose drips with sarcasm and judgment, and is frankly, quite unpleasant. He is not content to grind his axe merely on the Mitford family, however. His analysis of Alfred “Duff” Cooper, British Ambassador to France in 1944, proceeds as follows:“Like Mosley, Duff spent too much time jumping in and out of bed with other peoples’ wives to be capable of contributing anything very useful in his role as a diplomat. Unfortunately, the British Empire had been remarkably effective at breeding such men.”In addition, his analysis of what he terms “Torah True Judaism, a branch of Orthodoxy” is so hilariously incorrect and off the mark that I wonder if he even knows anybody who is Jewish with whom he might have shared this howler, in an attempt to approach something at least resembling the truth.Litchfield takes it one step further and sneers at previous Mitford biographers, including David Pryce-Jones, Anne de Courcy, Jonathan Guinness, and Mary S. Lovell, but this does not stop him from heavy use of their careful and disciplined research. Litchfield's ace-in-the-hole for primary research sources turn out to be his mother, "who gained intimate knowledge of the Mitfords' 'goings-on' while her father was practising as a doctor in Burford," and his grandmother. With all due respect to Mr. Litchfield and his family members, what comes across is a family commitment to Mitford hating that is at least as virulent as the Mitford family commitment (with one or two exceptions) to fascism.I make no excuses for Unity Valkyrie Mitford. She was a fanatic, and a syncophantic and enthusiastic follower and apologist for one of the most evil men in world history. She was cruel and cavalier, and willingly complicit in a political movement that resulted in the slaughter of some 50-85 million people. Whatever her sexual preferences or appetites were has no bearing on her commitment to National Socialism, and Litchfield’s salacious and prurient focus on this aspect of her life is more than a little creepy.

Uncensored, unedited and self-serving tripe By Judy Cecil I've read a great deal about and by the Mitfords, including Nancy's fiction - which is witty, of it's time, and well written. I've also read a lot of other biographies of people who were mentioned in this book and about European history in the early 20th century over the last 30 years.Apparently the author didn't have time to do that, because the bibliography is so light on as to be minimal and he has preferred to rely on second, third, forth or fifth hand old family gossip. He's so obsessed by one alleged sex act that he returns to it again and again with creepy fascination. He alleges that the majority of the English, as well as the Government and the aristocracy, were pro-fascist and completely fails to take into account the effects of the depression and WW1 on the people of Europe and the political build-up to WW2. Unity Mitford was a complex individual in a fascinating time in world history. I was hoping to read a well-researched and evidence backed study. No such luck here. Perhaps 'uncensored' gives the game away. A better title may have been 'What My Mummy Told Me The Lady At The Post Office Might Have Said".Anyone who forms a judgement of the Mitford family, the people of England and Scotland, the aristocracy and the British Government based on this book may as well look to 'Entertainment Tonight' for world political news. Even the concept of a mother's love for her children is lost on this man. I don't know what the Mitford family and the English aristocracy did to the author and his family, but he sure has a personal axe to grind - and a rather unhealthy appetite for gossip presented as truth. Don't waste your money.

10 of 12 people found the following review helpful. By "uncensored" he means "unresearched" By Sonia N. Simone This is essentially a tabloid newspaper story in book form. Salacious gossip, dressed up with as many lurid details as possible, and fact-checking is optional. Dreadful, and sheds no light on this tragic and misguided girl.

I'm a crazy cat lady, so when I saw these on ModCloth I instantly wanted them! Cheaper here on Amazon, and definitely worth the price. The watercolor style shows through even after applied and many people around me thought it was a real tattoo! I love them and would love to see more from this artist!

The quality of the tattoos is very good and the illustrations are wonderful By NY_Mom The quality of the tattoos is very good and the illustrations are wonderful. However, a lot of tattoos are far too big if you're planning to use these for kids. They'll take up the entire forearm. If they were smaller, it would be a five-star product in my book.

National Bestseller“No Dog Should Die Alone” was the attention-grabbing — and heart-stirring — headline of journalist Laura T. Coffey’s TODAY show website story about photographer Lori Fusaro’s work with senior shelter pets. While generally calm, easy, and already house-trained, these animals often represent the highest-risk population at shelters. With gorgeous, joyful photographs and sweet, funny, true tales of “old dogs learning new tricks,” Coffey and Fusaro show that adopting a senior can be even more rewarding than choosing a younger dog. You’ll meet endearing elders like Marnie, the irresistible shih tzu who has posed for selfies with Tina Fey, James Franco, and Betty White; Remy, a soulful nine-year-old dog adopted by elderly nuns; George Clooney’s cocker spaniel, Einstein; Susie, the funny little senior dog who got adopted by "Humans of New York" creator Brandon Stanton; and Bretagne, the last known surviving search dog from Ground Zero. They may be slower moving and a tad less exuberant than puppies, but these pooches prove that adopting a senior brings immeasurable joy, earnest devotion, and unconditional love.

I love dogs in general but found out what a treasure old dogs are while volunteering for a rescue back in 2007. That is when two wonderful elderly goldens came into my life and shared my home for their final years. They opened the door for several other seniors in the years since. Each one brings something special but they all share grace, dignity, wisdom and a heart full of love that one can only find in a rescued oldie. This book celebrates that, showcasing the stories of these wonderful souls and the incredible people that took a chance on them. The writing is wonderful and the photos amazing. Keep tissues close though because there will be tears, especially when you read some of the before stories. Great book!

We toss out our food wrappers, we wait in line to swap last year’s gadget for the latest model, we idolize pop singers barely past puberty. We’re ashamed to age. That’s why “This Old Dog” is so refreshing. As writer Laura T. Coffey points out in its forward, puppies are adorable, but they also tend to pee on the carpet and chew on your shoes. In contrast, older dogs like the ones we meet in this book are calm and grateful. We meet dogs of the famous (George Clooney’s black cocker spaniel, Einstein) and dogs who are famous themselves (Marnie, a charismatic shih tzu with a million Instagram followers). We meet heroic dogs (Bretagne, the last known surviving 9/11 search dog to have worked at Ground Zero) and hard-working ones (Duval, a certified therapy dog who does wonders with first-graders struggling to learn to read). And then there are the dogs that nobody wanted, like Remy, a 9-year-old pit bull who languished in a shelter until three octogenarian nuns took him in, a “match made in heaven.”Coffey, an award-winning journalist, reveals each of these canine characters with obvious compassion yet without sentimentality. She doesn’t strain to yank your heartstrings. She doesn’t need to; the unembellished details of these stories pack volumes of drama and pathos. And Lori Fusaro’s photos are similarly straightforward. These are not fuzzy greeting card pictures of cute puppies; they’re honest portraits of dogs with distinctive personalities only time can etch. The words and pictures come together to convey the many lessons older dogs have to teach us: about perseverance, about dignity, about service and, above all, about love.

Menzies A few years ago, I paid a visit to SAINTS – Senior Animals In Need Today Society – a senior animal sanctuary in Mission, British Columbia. I had seen photos on social media of the elderly, abused and/or abandoned dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, cows, sheep, donkeys, chickens and other animals whose one great stroke of luck in unlucky lives was to be rescued and brought to this small, peaceful farm on the outskirts of Vancouver.I know from having worked in one that hospices are not simply places people go to die but places where dying people go to make the most of the time that remains to them—to savor, as poet Eugene Walter, wrote, the ripened heart of life, and make a luscious pickle of the rind. So do the animals at SAINTS. They are mostly elderly, they are mostly ill, but unlike most humans they make the most of each moment. Yet they approach their mortality and their bodily ills with an awareness that seems human. I will never forget Manny. A large, handsome mastiff in his day, he’d been abandoned in old age, and had landed at SAINTS, where he spent most of his time on a comfortable bed surrounded by canine friends. It would not be long now, yet when I approached him, he wagged his old tail, tried to lift himself to be petted, and with a groan lost control of his bowels. In his eyes was a shame and a regret, an embarrassment and even an anger, like an elderly veteran who believes his dignity compromised by an unretentive bladder. I caressed Manny’s face and told him whatever happened was all right, that he was a handsome, wonderful dog, that nothing his body might do would make us love him less. His struggle was moving, but what brings tears to me writing about this is the people who stepped up to help Manny—volunteers with courage as well as heart on their sleeves, comforting the elderly dog, lifting and cleaning him, telling him he was beautiful.SAINTS is one of the elderdog charities described in "My Old Dog: Rescued Pets with Remarkable Second Acts", by Laura T. Coffey and photographer Lori Fusaro, a book that should be read by anyone concerned that there is a compassion deficit in this often painful world. Because while the back stories of elderly dogs left to fend for themselves, or dropped off at shelters or in plastic bags along freeways, seem evidence in plenty that humanity is going backwards at an ever-increasing and unhindered rate, "My Old Dog" proves that for every agent of darkness there are several angels of light. In conversational, direct prose, Coffey tells the stories of famous elderdogs—Bretagne, the last surviving search and rescue dog active at the World Trade Center on 9/11; Susie, the presiding deity of Brandon Stanton’s “Humans of New York”; Einstein, the love of George Clooney’s life. But there are also the complete unknowns. There is Akila, an 11 year old border collie-huskie mix who started out an untouchable and unwanted feral and ended up in the heaven on earth of Best Friends Sanctuary in Utah’s Angel Canyon, from which she was adopted by Bret and Stacey Chappell and, with patience and love, flowered into the happy dog she was always meant to be. There’s Remy, the 9 year old pit bull whom nobody wanted at a New York shelter—nobody, that is, except three elderly nuns who had lost their beloved companion dog and gone seeking, in their grief, a dog that could fill the emptiness in their hearts. “This is the one,” said Sister Veronica. “She just got right up there,” said another nun, Sister Virginia. “She said, ‘This must be my new family.’”What completes the magic of "My Old Dog" is the photographs, which must be seen to be believed. It is incredibly difficult to photograph an animal. Humans instinctively know what to do when a camera appears before them (some dodging it, others preening for it), but an animal has mercifully no knowledge or understanding of the technology which increasingly pervades our lives. They move, they are distracted, they are wary, all unpredictable variables. A few great photographers, like Isa Leshko, make magic of the moment when an animal’s soul as well as image are captured by the lens. Fusaro is one of these. Her photographs are, to begin with, gorgeously staged without appearing anything but spontaneous, rich with color and texture taking you instantly into the animal’s space. But above all, Fusaro makes magic with elderdogs’ eyes. You turn a page and the depth, shine and spirit of the gaze looking back at you will take your breath away, and maybe choke you up, too. (In fact, I showed one of these images to my rescue dog Freddie, and he started up and looked right back at it.) The love both Coffey and Fusaro have for these and all animals is apparent; the artistry fixes their impressions, in word and image, into what feels like a classic, one of those books that never leaves your library or coffee table, and can be turned to for the solace of knowing that there are some good humans to go along with the goodness personified by every old dog.“Some people think it might be too sad to adopt an older shelter dog,” writes Neko Case in "My Old Dog"’s Foreword. “But always remember the special superpower of dogs: they live in the moment. They live for today. They enjoy what they can enjoy right here and now.... This is just one of the many lessons we have to learn from them.”Go get this book, read it, learn, and love. And if you have an empty place in your heart that needs filling, check out the list of shelters in the back of "My Old Dog". The special superpower of dogs awaits you.Grant Hayter-Menzies, author of “From Stray Dog to World War I Hero: The Paris Terrier Who Joined the First Division” {Potomac Books, Nov. 2015)

On January 7, 1916, Antonio Pontón, a Puerto Rican student at Albany Law School who suffered from mental illness, became the first Hispanic executed in the electric chair at the Sing Sing Prison in New York. Author Yasmin Tirado-Chiodini tells a fictionalized account of Pontón's story in her historical novel ANTONIO'S WILL, A Story of Sacrifice, Love, Tragedy and Injustice, the first book in The Antonio's Series. This second book, ANTONIO'S GRACE, An Island's Plea for a Native Son, is a work of non-fiction in which the author takes a closer look at the trial and clemency process in the Pontón case. In it, she shares photographs and a selection of the thousands of documents she found, containing clemency writings endorsed by over 21,000 people who prayed in vain for grace for Pontón. Tirado-Chiodini's research and analysis of the case one hundred years later uncover the injustices surrounding Pontón's murder trial and examine the viability of the death penalty as a just measure. The names and voices of clemency have returned after a century to plead once again for an island's native son. Will you listen? BONUS: The book's Appendix includes a transcription by the author of over 21,000 names of individuals and organizations who signed clemency petitions in the case, an invaluable resource for academics, historians, and genealogists.

I was taken back to the early 1900's when Puerto Rico became part of the US. The uncertainty of its citizens and the discrimination suffered by both the elite and educated people, as well as the poor and uneducated. Puerto Ricans were one, united for one cause. I was astonished to see that several of my ancestors signed the petition. Loved the book, the material, and the history behind this story. A must read for anyone who feels the death penalty should be abolished. Like Dead Man Walking this book makes a very strong argument against the death penalty!! "Better a guilty man go free than an innocent man be put to death or imprisoned" Bravo!!!!

Early 20th Century Nonfictional Account of Puerto Rico and New York By jrlb62 Once again Yasmin Tirado-Chiodini transports the reader to the early 20th Century with the story of Antonio Ponton, this time as Puerto Ricans who are the New Americans trying to save the life of one of their native sons in New York. It brings to light the efforts of a united Puerto Rico and questions the existing mores of the penal system in New York. A must read for those who are ambivalent about the penal system and the use of capital punishment.

Excerpt from The Story of the Goths: From the Earliest Times to the End of the Gothic Dominion in SpainThis little volume is, so far as I have been able to discover, the first English book expressly treating of the history of the Goths. Adequately to supply the strange deficiency in our literature indicated by this fact is a task that will require powers far greater than mine. Some day, perhaps, the story of the Goths will be told in English by a writer possessing the rare combination of literary skill and profound scholarship that will be needed to do it justice. But in the meantime I would fain hope that this brief sketch may be found to have a sufficient reason for its existence. I have made no attempt to write a brilliant narrative, well knowing that success in such an attempt is beyond my reach. My aim has been to relate the facts of the history as correctly as I could, and with the simplicity of language required by the plan of the series in which the work appears - a series intended not for scholars, but for readers in whom little knowledge of general history is to be pre-supposed.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. A fantastic introduction to history's most heroic villains By A from VA I encountered Henry Bradley's book The Story of the Goths a short time ago, and was delighted to find a readable, enjoyable account of a people that left such an indelible impression on our history. The Goths are well-remembered for the infamous sack of Rome in 410 A.D. Their name is still associated (though through roundabout channels) with darkness and fear. But the truth of their story is not at all what the film clips of filthy, roaring barbarians would have you believe. The Goths actually saved the West, not just once but several times. Their legacy is still very much with us, forming a cultural element deep within peoples ranging from eastern Europe to South and Central America. In doing research for my own book (a novel) I spent several years reading everything about the Goths that I could find - both primary and secondary sources, trying to put together a fuller picture of these mysterious people. I learned a great deal, but I must say that nowhere did I find all the information arranged in such a way as it is here in Bradley's book. The account that emerges is vivid and yet concise enough to be clear and easy to read. One thing that has struck me as slightly odd about the book is that some of the language belies bias (i.e. words like "heathen" and savage") that would not be unusual at all in Gibbon, Burry, or any of the classic historians of the era, but seem "old fasioned" by contemporary standards. At first I thought the book was a good deal older than the 2013 copyright. Regardless, these are subtle and for most should not detract from the enjoyment or the bountiful education that the book provides.I highly recomend this book to anyone interested in the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the Dark Ages, or in understanding the European story.- David Rodgers, author of The Songs of Slaves

By William Butler I have read many histories where the "Goths, Ostrogoths, and Visigoths" were mentioned, but I never understood who these people were, where they came from, and where they fit into the story of European culture. Thanks to the scholarship of Henry Bradley, I now have a working understanding of the Goths, but many questions remain for me to research. No references are given, and it desperately needs more illustrations - especially maps showing where these people were and when!

By Berkely Reader Really interesting part of history of which I had a very vague understanding (mostly from Gibbons). This book is a fun read and fills in the details on a people now mostly forgotten. What I love most about reading these types of history books is the little gems that pop out and fill in the why's on so many things that still shape our world today. If you are looking for an example of how leadership matters read the chapters about Belisarius and Theodoric. Another gem; the source of the Spanish laws against the Jews are discussed, an historic tragedy that recently resurfaced in Spanish politics.

I was looking for something with artwork that just a little different when I chose "Cats & Kittens". I've really enjoyed it and will definitely buy others by Becky Torres.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I've never knitted a sweater before... By krisadela I've never knitted a sweater before, only socks, and while I haven't used the patterns in this book to make anything yet, I am very excited to start! I tend to shy away from books that present too much information at once, or doesn't adequately explain techniques, as I have found authors of knitting books sometimes assume a lot of pre-knowledge. I must admit I lean towards books in the Idiot's Guide or Dummies frequently, as I relish in teaching myself new skills, and they thoroughly explain basic concepts well. I'll update after I've knitted up a few.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. This is a wonderful book, even for more experienced knitters By Indiana folks This is a wonderful book, even for more experienced knitters! It explains things so clearly, and has many lovely patterns, plus suggestions for varying patterns to suit you. I highly recommend it

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Not for the budget-minded By Marianne There are a lot of good tips in this book. But when I picked out one of the patterns that was referred to as a good first sweater, I was very disappointed to find that the suggested yarn would cost me close to $150. Many of the yarns suggested for other patterns are on the expensive side as well. I can't spend $150 on a very first sweater project. It would have been nice if she suggested some budget-friendly alternatives to the yarns listed in the patterns & also discussed yarn substitution, because you can't just substitute any DK weight yarn for any other DK weight yarn.
